At what point does the unknown affect recruiting?

This year, a supermajority of LSU's top targets are Louisiana talent and I think most of them go LSU no matter what. But the out of state guys and other targets may get some good charges from other coaches to poach them if Alleva does not step up and make a statement with certainty.

A bad decision can sometimes be better than no decision because in a vacuum folks can make up stories about LSU that seem plausible.

Hopefully, the FAU game slowed down their momentum.

His case is complicated because even if Miles stays another year the OC position is uncertain.

Franks will be back to UF this weekend. And anyone can see the open wrs that Treon is missing. The potential for this offense once it has a qb

Btw Grier led the SEC in many categories before his suspension.

If Keith Gavin decides to consider Florida, that could have more to do with Franks changing than anything happening at LSU. They are pressing him as hard as his HS teammate.

He was attending before the slide, so this is not the cause of it

Certainly it was not the cause but if it starts to be a tossup it could be an influence on a final decision.

Now, if Jimbo came to LSU, perhaps Gavin could be persuaded to join Franks in Baton Rouge which would really make a serious receiving corps for Franks to target.

Youd be naive to say it isn't.

I'd rather make the decision soon. What sucks is realistically you are bringing in an entirely new staff. I could see them keeping Coach O as the new DC. But you know if Les goes, Cam goes too. (Cam is probably gone regardless.) BDP is gone.

I just want to see LSU go out and get their man, no bullshite.

I see it like the stock market, both have a lot of prognosticating and can have decisions based on emotion/perception that don't necessarily match the fact.

Unknown is worse than the bad decision/data.

"A bad decision can sometimes be better than no decision" nails it. It doesn't have to be a bad decision, but time is NOT on LSU's side at this point regardless of Miles fate now that the cards that are on the table are out there.

If Les is fired it hurts recruiting more than him staying imo...

Les stays I think he still has a top 5-8 class, hell he was about to recruit in 08/09 and last year after subpar years.

And Alleva deserves all the blame because he ramped the speculation up with his actions.

The positive for recruiting is that I doubt Orgeron or WIlson leave and they are better then most at keeping recruits committed.

With a 11 year coach that was planning on retiring next year and dug in as he is Alleva might have had to go the leak route like he did to get the big boosters on board (and Board of Supervisors). But you are right, that has highlighted the unknown and speculation which puts LSU on the clock. IF he didn't have to do that, big mistake.

As soon as possible, say Frank and Coach O are staying; regardless of who's coming in (or who's not). That probably has to wait on some "official finality" on what is actually going to happen to Miles. But if you are Alleva the leaks (above) basically put you at a point of no return. Other than feeling out interest of the next guy, might as well have those conversations with CFW and O and do it now.
