Are we in for a PR nightmare next week?

The Jalen Mills story never even really got out to national media and faded away before the Ray Rice issue REALLY blew up with the release of the video from inside the elevator. Once he gets arraigned on Tuesday though, what happens? The story will go out on the wires and it will surely mention what he is being arraigned for. This issue is extremely toxic right now. Professional organizations and college programs are under the microscope with how they handle player-on-female violence and the prevailing thought is that the thing to do is at least suspend the player until the thing plays out. Spurrier had very strong comments after the Rice video. I won't point to the OU-Mixon deal, as they saw video of that assault, but Florida just suspended Treon Harris, who was about to be their starting quarterback, albeit for a different type of accusation. Most seem to think though that UF's swift action was largely driven by the current climate.
This post isn't about whether or not you agree with suspending first and finding out later, because the fact is that is the climate we're in right now, whether you agree with it or not. It's about what happens next week when this hits the media. Frankly, I can see it blowing up into a major national story in college football, and I think we could be in for a pretty severe PR beating if it does.
Thoughts???
ETA: The potential negative PR I'm referring to is over the fact that he has been playing all along instead of his suspension remaining in place.

Anyone who is charged with domestic violence of any sort will be under the microscope now. Universities don't want the bad PR so they'll act quickly in most instances to show "look! We did something about it b/c we don't tolerate it"

The worst that could happen is he gets suspended. This season is clearly chalked up to rebuilding.
He is a good player, but his absence will likely result in us losing by 21 instead of 14.
It will be okay, I promise.

It appears that the latest protocol for these types of incidents takes two different tracks: (1) if there is solid corroborating evidence of misconduct -- suspend the player during legal proceedings, and (2) if there is no corroborating evidence of misconduct -- let the player play while due process runs it course.

I'm not talking at all about him being suspended. I'm talking about the fact that he's been playing in spite of the accusation when this is such a hot-button issue. Talking about the negative PR that may come this way over it.

Innocent until proven guilty.
Does that even matter anymore? He was suspended while it was a felony charge. Now a misdemeanor, he is not. Doesn't matter what it's for.

No because there is no smoking gun here. There is evidence that JM is innocent. The lack of credible evidence against him as well as the conflicting stories should get him a favorable plea bargain.

1. This isn't domestic violence. The girl wasn't his GF
2. His story is that he didn't hit her, and there is alleged witnesses to attest to this.
Different story.
