Are LSU's football players poorly conditioned?

Early on the season it was glaring.

Every win, iirc, saw us jump to a quick lead, and get physically whipped en route to a 2nd half comeback. We generally held on.

Then came November.

Those games saw us unable to jump out quick. And we still got manhandled in the 2nd half en route to blowouts.

Is this a conditioning issue?

Does Moffit need to straighten some things out?

IMHO, and it's just an educated guess -- yes, the LSU players are not as physically fit as SOME of the opposing teams.

IMHO, the LSU football practices may not be as challenging as they should be.

But, these are just educated guesses.

This has been brought up numerous times. Some say yes and others would rather you question their existence than think Moffett isn't doing the best job in America

More than likely, BUT a more glaring issue this year was depth on the front seven, notably at linebacker. We played nickel for the majority of this season and would occasionally bring in Lamar Louis to play a 4-3 front. Rarely would we sub at the linebacker position.

LSU Regular Season Defensive Stats

The play from Debo and Beckwith this year was absolutely outstanding and probably saved some of those November losses from getting uglier than they already were. But production at the linebacker spot after that was virtually nonexistent.

Our returning linebacker corps should be concern #1 (with QB development being a close/even second) this offseason. Having depth can go a ways in masking conditioning concerns, especially over the course of a season.

This is where Steele and Orgeron can hopefully prove their worth; in the 2016 recruiting class. Rankings shouldn't matter. We have a plethora of blue-chip skill players on our roster already--now we need the unsung, hard-nosed, nasty front seven guys to take the step to "elite" defensively.

I think a little of it may be conditioning, but above all else I see it as a depth issue.

This guy, Moffet, was a mentor to the bama strength coach and a mentor to the Florida state strength coach. He is doing something right.
