looked thru the rant on O throws more players under the bus but didn't find any discussion on this. just wondering if that's what he meant.

Pretty sure it's obvious what he meant, we dont have someone we can trust to kick a field goal.

Culp and Gamble both have scholarships

And to be clear, Gamble was never meant to kick FGs, the previous staff thought it prudent to give him a scholarship to kick it through the endzone and that's it. Gamble's high school team didn't even let him kick field goals.

Culp was a top 10 kicker in the nation coming out of high school. I’m not sure what is going on with him.

Well his head coach disparaging him in the media sure as shite won't help.

Really? It would motivate me tremendously to prove him wrong.

Tough love. If you don't want to be called out, do your job! The kicker comment was a little harsh, but it should light a fire under their arse. If there's one thing this team doesn't need right now is a bunch of sensitive snowflakes getting upset for being called out, for simply not doing their job.

You mean the guy who just got his arse handed to him by Troy? That brand of motivation works a lot better when you're not awful at your job and the players actually respect you.

And furthermore, how exactly do you expect him to turn things around and "prove Orgeron wrong"? He doesn't have a fricking dedicated kicking coach to break down his mechanics, knowledgeably at least. Only Orgeron could be dumb enough to take one of the most technical positions in sports and let a bunch of position coaches work as a piecemeal'd "special teams committee".

I'm sure you feel the same about the way Orgeron is being treated by the media and the fans, right?

Yea it should definitely motivate him to spend a lot of time with his Special Teams coach and really figure out the problem....

Oh wait... We don't have a fricking ST coach.

Absolutely. How it should it be, he's under-performing and so are the players/coaches. Ex: kickers, brossette, and Canada.

If he thinks we're losing games because of our field goal kicker then we are in even more trouble than we think.

Name a successful college coach that calls out his players individually in front of the media and throws them under the bus. And provide a quote. I'm waiting

Because he's wildly inaccurate and his approach takes too long and would probably get blocked

The problem with Gamble coming out of high school was how many steps he needed to kick. He was accurate and has a big leg, but he needed like 7 steps to kick the ball.

That doesn’t work against college defenses.

Culp doesnt have a coach. Special Ed thinks special teams arent prudent enough for a coach.

This is an incredibly easy fix. Any competent kicking specialist can do it. All it would take is about 2 weeks of dedicated training.

I compare kicking to golf, kind of. You could be doing something miniscule incorrectly, and it could throw everything off. Without a coach to help, it's almost impossible to find/correct those details.
