For him, shedding 20 lbs or shedding the slow weight for some extra muscle I could see him at 245. Gain more strength with no loss in quickness, speed, or movement.
Sports science has shown it's not a 1 to 1 ratio. Carrying more weight, even if it is muscle will reduce your speed, although to a lesser degree than adding fat. I would take Keys speed over extra strength . If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I like the added weight but the real takeaway is that he is flailing around and falling down on his shoulder with no hesitation, no concerns. That's a good sign.

He's supposed to have a belly right now. The idea was for him to gain muscle mass during the offseason. You don't do that optimally without storing fat first. The team will have an extreme conditioning phase - which I'd guess has started - and during that time he will drop weight. You want that dropped weight to be fat.
The fat is a sacrifice he makes for his craft. He doesn't get to parade around with a beautiful beach bod like us.

He tied Oliver Lawerence's single season record last season. Looks like he will break it this year.

He can't break it if he only plays 6 games

What a freak athlete. He has plenty of time to get into shape.
Has time.....just not "plenty". The rest of the team has been working out since late January. This is July.

I tend to agree that you need quality weight. Just putting on weight to reach a certain number can be counter productive. You've gotta see what works best for each individual.

Re sand...
LSU has always used a sandpit. They told our HS schools to implement one. It was torture the first few weeks of jumps and ropes in sand, but pays off. Haha. No torn ligaments. :)

Carrying an extra 20lbs of fat slows you down.

Dude is grinding to get in shape and the first thing you want to point out is a belly. Dude looked crazy athletic in my opninion.
I like how everyone just assumes that what I am saying is negative. I think him playing at 255 - 250 is a good thing. Just merely pointing out that he grew a lil belly that will most likely be converted to muscle once the season starts.

235 is way light to be play DE in the NFL.
In the article I believe he is in the 250's so not sure why you are referencing 235.

I'm glad he added the weight. About to look like JPP before the fireworks.
