I've become nervous over the last few weeks about Aranda's days being number at LSU. What scares the most is aTm or any other SEC school hiring him. This is Sumlins last year unless they make the SEC champ. aTm has pumped in more money than any program in America in the last 5 years and they are ready for championships.

Aranda's doesn't strike me as a guy that likes the media attention, he is very soft spoke in the interviews I've watch. He seems to just answer the questions and is ready to get back to whatever he was doing before.

I think he is the most important individual person involved in LSU Football. I would like to see LSU make him priority number 1.

I'd like to hear other opinions.

Whoa...whoa...you mean more important than Myles Brennan?

Just kidding.

Come on...buck up.

I don't think he wants to be a head coach at the college level. His next stop is likely as an NFL DC.

No time to melt about the unknown future than right now, I guess.

My opinion would be to live in the present and try to enjoy the football program and not go all "doom-N-gloom" about shite you have no control over or even know if it wil happen.

Not being a dick, but what's your point with this paragraph:

I mean, Saban isn't necessarily fond of it, nor was Stoops, or even Jimbo for that matter...and they all seem to be doing/have done pretty well.

He's way too introverted and weird to be a college head coach.

Yea I guess in hindsite it seems overly doom and gloom. I just know this guy is a genius regarding defense and would be a major blow if lost.

I brought this up when O was hired. We will live and die by our coordinators. This is the decision that was made. Im anxious to see what the results are on the field with the type of coaching hierarchy that LSU has established.

And the answer to your question is this. LSU believes this too. They have proved it with money and with his title of asst. coach.

The university, city and state love Aranda. He pretty much has a blank check here. His only move would likely be to the NFL. The reality is though, he won't be a rock star in the NFL the way he is to the Tiger Nation. Not saying he won't be successful, but he's reached almost legendary status here after only one season.

(IIRC) he's the highest paid assistant coach in the country. I don't see how LSU could make him any more of a priority.

That aside, if he want's to be a head coach, there is nothing LSU can do (if money isn't the issue) to keep him outside of firing Ogeron and making Aranda the HC.

I don't necessarily worry about A&M. When coaching changes happen schools usually try to go in the opposite direction of what got them in the position of needing a new coach in the first place. A&M currently has a DC they took from LSU. That hasn't exactly worked out for them. I'm not sure they would want to go that route again.

Why do people keep saying he doesn't want to be a college HC? Did he say this before? I don't think anyone knows what they are talking about when they say this.

Here's my take on the situation. We will hold on to Aranda as long as we can. If he becomes such a hot commodity that he goes elsewhere, that will be because we likely have one of the best teams in the nation and a defense full of studs. Based on this we will be the prime landing spot for the next greatest up and coming DC or established guy. They know the money will be there and we will be an extremely attractive landing spot for defensive recruits thus continuing the momentum.

The same can be said for the OC spot as well. LSU can sell the program as the place where the best and brightest up and coming coordinators can master their craft. Just as our best players declare early, it's inevitable the same will happen with coordinators. Some may stick longer and obviously that's great too.

I hate even writing this. ATM with right coach could be national power. They have more money, more players, top facilities. The word is out on him, He will be a candidate at any opening from now on in the football world. Also Chief didn't see it as a step back at the time he switched. Coaches don't view these programs in the same respect as guys like us. They see opportunity to make something of there name and program. Thanks for your insight.

How dare you have optimism!!!

But seriously this is a refreshingly positive and realistic outlook

I do not know what Dave Aranda wants for himself professionally or for his family. I believe that LSU and Coach O will continue to treat DA with respect.

BUT...

I want LSU to make sure that Dave Aranda does not leave LSU for another cfb coordinators job because of money. If he wants to go to the NFL for a professional challenge, not much we can do about that.

This is exactly why you don't want to have good quality coordinator's. That fear of them getting hired by someone else.
