Didn't think BJ Penn could be this good at coaching football.

He brought a brand new system in and it will take some game time to get it in completely where the players understand it and can execute. I like what I see so far!

I like what I have seen form the DL and most of the secondary.

Tolliver needs to wake his arse up on certain plays.
Rickey Jefferson too.

LB are average. What I mean by average is that we have good pass rushing LB's and good run stopping LB but not any good coverage LB's.

Aranda is working with a 4-3 recruited defense and turning them into a 3-4 defense and a very good one at that.

Didn't give it up on Saturday shutdown state 4 straight plays to put the game away. I like what I see.

I think they only had < 60 yards rushing. They keep that up and Key will eat...secondary needs some work, playing the ball better, but not bad, so far.

The last defensive play where they opened up a lane for Key to sack Williams was a thing of beauty.

Agree that the corners play soft way too much. They also need to have better ball awareness. But I think they will get there.

For the few who have complained, I don't understand their thinking. This defense has been great with the amount of time they have had to be on the field. Aranda is a special coach and may be the best hire that Miles ever made.

Before two fumbles and onside kick in the middle of the fourth, he held Miss St to 170 yards and 6 points.

JSU had 13, and Wisconsin had 16

Keep in mind we are installing a new defense for the 2nd straight year and this time it's a 3-4.

- Key is already tied for 2nd in the country in sacks
- Tre White is a shutdown corner
- LSU is 12th in 3rd down conversions allowed, and only allowed 4 of 29 to two power 5 teams (3rd in country but the two ahead of us only played 1 game)
- LSU is tied for 10th in the country in sacks

So far LSU is ranked 22nd in scoring D, but we'll finish in the top 10 most likely. Outside of the baffling play by some corners, I am very high on this defense, and it is about as makeshift of a 3-4 as you can find.
