Almost positive Napoleon didn't say that. He was very PC about what he did say about that whole thing regarding SC being left out, but he most certainly did not throw OU under the bus like that.
Most I recall him saying was in regards to the bitching from the West Coast was that it was the system we had.
I can't stand the guy, but unless there's a link to an article from that time period that directly quotes him saying this, this is almost certainly bullshite.

Keep in mind, those tools will report ANYTHING. For instance,, I made this before the LSU-UGA game in Tiger Stadium in 2003 just as a joke...he never said it but said something half-way close that could be twisted into this.
That Saturday at Gameday on campus, Corso held this up, said it was plastered all over LSU's locker room, and when he asked Richt about it he denied it.
They don;t fact check jack or shite.

Stunned, actually. I had made it for the guys over on Tiger Roar and I think by then they had closed the board, so I didn't really think it was going to get out. I was just messing around.
I was standing on the PMAC ramp on the Game Day set (I had made a really huge Clayton for Heisman sign) and when he whipped that out, I couldn't believe it. I was as much ashamed as I was amused. I mean, if it helped the team get up...then great. But I really didn't mean for it to get to the point that freaking Corso would ask Richt for a denial!

Then it ought to be fairly easy to dig up.
Don't get me wrong, if he said it and it can be directly quoted from an article at that time, that's great and I'd love to see his arse squirm. If not, he's simply going to claim it was made up like that fake speech back in 2002 after the UK game about BAMA.
Oh...I was slightly involved with that, too...though it wasn't me that wrote it.

Why/when would Nick Saban have said that? The time span from OU not winning its conference championship to the announcement that LSU was in the BCS Championship was a matter of hours. There was no prolonged campaign like Bama has this year.
And he certainly wouldn't have said it after the matchup was announced....why provide bulletin board material for no reason if you are already in the game?

He said it right after OU lost, while we were still ranked #3. The night before the poles came out. I was thinking about it last week before it "resurfaced".

I had heavy interest in researching this quote, and I did, and nothing came up. Reading other quotes from that year, Saban basically said "Kinda sucks we all can't play each other" and left it at that.
Some idiot tried to make a dummy source on Wikipedia for it using an old newspaper article they thought wasn't accessible online, that was funny, wasted a good hour tracking down that no such thing was said.
