I saw Debo and Adams in there, I thought. Seems like the coaches are putting more playmakers on special teams. The coverage was better overall, even on a wet field.

This can be taken to an extreme not justified, IMHO. Linebackers and safeties are perfect positions to play on kick coverage teams.

On the other hand, Saban plays Henry on kick coverage teams.

Are we ready to see LF7 out there busting heads on coverages? Or would that be taking things too far (which is what I think)?

Gordy talked about it on the post-game show with Hanny. The players had way more lane discipline Saturday and he specifically called out Nick Brosette as being the guy adding energy to the kick coverage. He was just added this week.

Brossette was on fire when he ran the ball the other night. That kid has heart and wants to make an impact, especially after his fumble. Good for him. Let him loose.

The lack of LBs on this team has directly affected coverage teams. Riley, Louis, Alexander, Feist have under performed on STs. I've seen both Jones and Beckwith now on coverage units. Have no problem putting Adams there too, but we have too many athletes at Safety that should be making plays. It's bad when you see #4 and #5 out playing defensive players on special teams, but I see it quite a bit.

Even when he was at LSU, Saban made sure the best players on the team played special teams. Even JVincent was running around out there trying to make plays.

Think it was Auburn 01 or 03 where Clayton completely demolished the returner.

Nick B. out there certainly helps. Youthful energy is good for ST play. But LF7 on kick off coverage is going a bit too far.

Because he was an "early" bloomer in HS, size, ability and "aggression" wise (particularly for an offensive player, I mean, Clayton played QB), teams in the district stopped returning punts against Christian Life because they were afraid Clayton was going to kill someone.

So, he had that background before he even got to LSU.
