It was painful to listen to. The staff at that station obviously hadn't done a preliminary interview with that kid. He is a high schooler. He is young and totally unprepared for the interview, which isn't surprising given his age.
The staff deserves a for that episode.

Maybe if they concentrated on producing an informative sports program rather than movie reviews, silly games and boring banter things like this wouldn't happen.

I feel sorry for what they subjected JaVonte to this morning.

Jordy and bob were really trying hard to get something

But this kid apparently is very shy

I've been trying to give the morning show a chance. I find I turn it off more times than not.

The sad part is this thread has about as much information as the actual interview

They should be chastised for putting that boy in that situation.

Although that was a pretty cringe worthy interview, I can't say either side is at fault.

I wouldn't have been any better as an interviewee as a 17 year old. And Jordy and T-Bob surely asked his parents/coach if he could come on and they agreed...if he wasn't ready, they could have declined.

He'll get excellent coaching on and off the court at LSU...including on how to interview with the media.

Welcome aboard!

Here is an interview where he was more personable. He was in his element and seemed to feel comfortable. One of his past teachers commented on the huddle how he was in the interview this morning was how he was in the classroom. Kid may just be shy and/or not an outspoken person. Wade didn't recruit him to do interviews

Absolutely. In Louisiana you need at least 2 years of college to be able to string together two related sentences.

Parallels with Yogi Berra as a New York Yankees rookie. Reporters made fun of him because of his shyness, manner of speaking, and poor interviews.

Casey Stengel: "He talks okay up there with a bat in his hands."
