I haven't been on here in a few days. Any new info on a RB coach or recruiting coordinator?

Nada. Seems like one of the weirder LSU coaching situations in recent history. Not sure why it's been so quiet

I think there are 2 options - they're holding back the RC tag, because if they hire a young, up and comer as RB coach, they're probably going to move the RC label to the operations/administration side of the house and "promote" Austin Thomas.

However, if they need it to close the deal with, say, Larry Porter - or equivalent coach - they will use the RC label/salary base to sweeten the deal.

I'm not sure why it has been so quiet. It's not like 2017 recruiting season hasn't already kicked off in earnest. I didn't necessarily think we would have a hire by now, but certainly that we would be moving towards a hire by late February/early March.

And maybe there is movement, but it's been extraordinarily quiet. I thought it would be Porter, but that could have happened by now, easily.

There have been interviews. There's more to it than just hiring a RB coach. Frank had the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator title, and there are numerous assistants currently on staff who would like to assume one or both titles.

I don't know what's going to happen for sure, but my guess is that Coach O gets Associate HC and Corey Raymond gets Recruiting Coordinator, then a pure RB coach comes on board.

I really hope they find a way to keep Austin Thomas. That guy is really really good at what he does.

Losing Frank Wilson is definitely going to hurt this coming recruiting class. We have got to hire someone who's got tons of influence, FW shoes will be hard to fill.

Pretty sure people said the same things when Larry Porter left. Les more often than not has made the right decision on coaching hires. It is a recruiting dead period and still a month until spring practice. Absolutely no reason to rush.

Did you forget the whole Les Miles debacle a couple of months ago?

It has to be related to the OC situation. That's my hunch.

Maybe the hiring folks learned their lesson in 2015.

Maybe they have to wait until after the board meets again.

Agreed with you that Les has made the right hiring decisions but i think regardless who we hire, this years class will take a hit due to the lack of time to build relationship/influence with those recruits, I hope it doesn't happen...

Are you serious? Do you think recruiting has just shut since January? LSU recruiting will be fine. If it is not, it will be because of negative recruiting due to the financial woes of the state. IMO
