This is hogwash. Our OL played very well, especially later in the year and that is when Jennings regressed.

Dural was consistently getting open at WR, Diarse is a big target, and Quinn, despite his critically timed drops was open on slants a good bit. Dupre got into the mix at the end of the year and Jennings didn't even look for him.

Our RBs had 2 seniors and a superstar freshman.

This isn't true either, really. Mett was lights out in 2013, literally the year before Jennings.

I'm not saying we were 1995 Nebraska last year but our QB held us back, I'm just saying that he had an historically bad year individually and he had NFL talent all around him and was in his second year in that system.

And I really root for AJ. Seems like he works his arse off, studies in the classroom and film room, and seems to be a great teammate.

It sucks that he sucked, but that's just a fact. People who boo should be suspended from attending the following game though. There's no place for that. He is trying his best.

His best just wasn't good enough. History is filled with good guys that worked hard but just weren't good enough at their sport to succeed at the highest level. You root for those guys, but eventually you need to wake up and realize he just doesn't have the talent.

Mett had the same supporting cast in 2012 and 2013, yet played poorly in one year, and better than Russell in the other.

Give it another five weeks. Jennings will be better, Harris will be better, Fournette will be better, Dural, Dupre, and Quinn will be better, the line will be better, and we may just throw a few passes to Smith and Washington.

NFL Talent isn't NFL talent when it's as raw as these players were.

Our OL was garbage towards the end of the year. It wasn't good in the first half either. Pass protection was a HUGE issue.

Dural was often blanketed because he couldn't create separation. Sometimes the other receivers got open but they never came back to the ball to help Jennings out.

Magee was average at best, Hilliard's best game was against Wisconsin, and Fournette wasn't very good until the Florida game onward.

It's a miracle that our QBs did as well as they did.

He had Greg fricking Strudrawa as his OC.

Mett, with one year of Cam Cameron, became an excellent QB.

Jennings with 2 has regressed.

I agree with this. I just don't think AJ has a very high ceiling. He could get a lot better and still be really, really bad.

Holy shite you people are delusional.

Our QB had maybe the worst year of any D1 QB in the country and you're blaming the rest of the team. Unreal.

ETA:

Magee was a very solid all-around RB last year. Protected well, caught well, rushed for 5.1 YPC, etc. Fournette averaged over 5 YPC before the Florida game, so that point is complete crap.

So, it's everybody's fault but AJ and Harris(to a small degree)?

these guys say anything to take the blame off of Jennings. The problem is that he was the worst qb in the entire SEC and bottom five in the entire country.

Jennings was supposed to be depth while Kiel and Harris were starting. The coaches never intended for him to be "the guy," and he may never be.

But we won titles with Mauck, Flynn, and Lee... three guys who were limited, but put it together with time. Jennings still has time left in his career to cement a similar legacy.

There is much left to be said about both our guys.

I agree with this.

Harris still has 100000x the talent and I'd like him to earn his right to be the guy. He is faster, quicker, taller, has a MUCH stronger arm and is also an intelligent guy.

I hope either QB has the light turn on for them and becomes an above average QB that can actually win games for LSU instead of being a detriment to the offense, which unfortunately is the case more often than not.

Chilge, I respect that your posts are well-written but, good lord, I've grown so weary of your constant excuse-making based on youth and/or inexperience.

Talented players can produce immediately. We see it everywhere. Does experience help? Sure it does, but it's not a requirement. Big-time players can have an immediate impact.

Enough with the excuses.

It's been a very long offseason.

September needs to hurry its arse up. No excuses for 2015.

Count me in the Les Miles bandwagon. Sure I get frustrated with the man at times, and yes I probably would've put Harris in after the bama loss to get the guy with better talent (which all of us recognize) some more pt and confidence running the offense. But thats my opinion and I don't get paid millions for it. I trust our coaches, especially our GOAT coach.

And to say Jennings regressed as the year went on is kind of wrong. We changed the offense to better suit his abilities against aTm and ND and I thought he had good games in those two to close out the season. Yes arkansas was like an all time low, but that was the whole team, not jennings.

FWIW I would rather see Harris at QB bc he seems to have all of the tools below the neck and is a smart kid. It takes a special kind of player to read a defense and I hope he can make that leap...hell i'll settle for getting the team in the right position and snapping the ball before a delay of game.

But I will root for whoever plays and hope that the TEAM wins...don't care how it looks if we do

In his brief appearance, Jennings offered few insights, other than to say he though the Tigers would have a great season.

“I think we will be tremendous – SEC champions,” Jennings said. “I believe that.”

LSU head coach Les Miles recently told reporters that he expects Jennings to return to the team soon and rejoin the QB competition with sophomore Brandon Harris.
