Reports out that Hickey will be transfering there. Damn strong place for him to get a year eligibility. Im happy for him.

Likely to get immediate eligibility citing being run out of the program by Jones. I hope he gets his eligibility. He is a great player.

And he will likely start immediately for them if his waiver gets worked out.

Why did he get run off? Sorry, serious question. I feel very late to the party.

There are a number of reasons, most of which aren't 100% based on things made public. He and Johnny Jones haven't really been on the same page since day 1. He was going to have to battle with a couple of really talented guards we have coming in next year as well.

Is this the "player to be named later" part of the trade for Les Miles???

Well they lost their starting PG and from the reports I've read about the situation stated that he would likely start this year. I'm not sure if he will get the waiver to play immediately, but if that happens I'd say he will get very good PT over there.

Obviously he was suspended I believe 3 different times over the past 2 years. I think Jones was tired of putting up with Hickey breaking "team rules". From what most have deciphered it was things like missing class and team meetings but Coach Jones never came out and said why.

His scholarship wasn't renewed this year.

I'll miss Hickey. He was one of my favorite players in recent memory. One of the few true point guards we have had in some time.

I think that one of the problems CJJ had with him was that he didn't drive, draw the big men to him and then pass to one of our big men often enough. This is what a modern point guard needs to do. He spent way too much time dribbling around the perimeter and then forcing up long jump shots. I personally would get frustrated that a lot of times he didn't seem aware of the shot clock and wouldn't initiate the play in time for us to get off a good shot.

He also had some clutch moments over the past 3 years.

biggest key for them next year is nash. if he finally lives up to his billing they can be a tournament team for the third year in a row.

they wer ebetter than that record from last season indicates, marcus smart's meltdowns caused some turmoil but they managed to hold it together just enough. im not the biggest ford fan, but he and hickey should hit it off way better than hick did with jones. remember, ford is a kentucky guy like hickey.

hickey, nash, forte, williams (BR kid), newberry ( who we recruited of course), murphy and tyree griffin(op walker) along with the other two freshmen is a solid core.

worked out nice for hickey. goes to a basketball school, will play in front of good crowds at a historic gym, play in a conference that loves basketball. hope he has a good year.

it definitely seems like its much easier to get those waivers nowadays.

CJJ and LSU too. Hickey did force a lot of shots and commit too many turnovers. LSU should be excited about the excellent guards coming in, Hornsby and Gray. Gray is my favorite because of his shooting and ability to dribble drive to attack double teams then make the easy pass. Everyone won here.
