no they were too fricking stupid to think of it on their own. They had to steal it from a big 12 school when referencing Nebraska.

Corn Dog back story
There's also a bunch of discussions about the original Rivals post that the Auburn guy made, but I think the reference goes back further than Rivals...so that is a little unclear.
Bottom line is I have been trying to get the Bama Hippie thing to stick for a while unsuccessfully as you can tell. It would provide the same kind of confusion for their fanbase as this does to ours.

When the wind blows in from the north east, the north side of campus, especially near the new Band Hall, Hart Lot, and the Enchanted Forest, smells like corn dogs thanks to the Wienerschnitzel on Highland Road. Also, many LSU tailgaters fry foods at their tailgates (especially fish and shrimp). Most people outside of Louisiana only associate fried foods with KFC, corndogs, or funnel cake. Saying "you smell like KFC" seems like a jab more suited for Wildcat fans, and "you smell like funnel cakes" sounds like the weirdest and most diabetic complement in the world. So, they settled on "you smell like corn dogs". That, and they stole it from the Big 12 since they're not even creative enoughto come up with their own nonsensical insults.

Im proud of the corndog bullshite. Its like, the rest of the country has nothing to pick on LSU for so they make something up and corndogs is the best they can do.

It was lifted word for word from a usenet forum talking about CORNhusker fans. Auburn fan just changed Nebraska to LSU fans
