Not quite the same thing but weddings are scheduled on purpose.

"A man had 50 yard line tickets for a LSU game.

As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty.

He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there.

"No," the man replied, "The seat is empty."

"This is incredible," said the first man.

"Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the LSU game, the biggest sporting event in the state and not use it?"

The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This will be the first LSU game we haven't attended together since we got married in 1967."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?"

The man shook his head. "No, they're all at the funeral.""

Lol, I never understand why people do this to themselves.

The worst is the audacity of the bride to be upset when you skip the wedding that she planned during the LSU game.

If your wife makes you have a fall wedding then don't marry her.

Cause you've already lost every battle and she clearly doesn't know or care about you.

Early spring or I'm out. Who wants to go sweat their nuts off in some old church in any temperature about 83 degrees outside?

Posters will come on here and talk about important things in life this and life altering events that, but the bottom line is if it is important to you, then she should recognize it and not force you to choose.

I've been happily married 22 years and my anniversary is July 20.

The only possibly excuse I can think of for getting married during football season is one of the couple has a terminal disease or is about to deploy. Other than that it's a stupid idea.

It's very sad that people are so obsessed with football they can't sacrifice one damn game for a wedding

I have one this year. It's the Friday before the Bama game which isn't bad. It's the day before plus Bama is away anyway

For many of us it's one of our only forms of care free entertainment

And there are only so many games a year. I'm not missing one unless it's for something that is important to ME.

Someone else's wedding just isn't that important to me.

You mean the one day that I get to watch carefree, entertaining football all day?

Perhaps

Guess what I meant is for me it's the only sport I follow closely and actually care about at all.

Watching the game doesn't require any special effort on my part. I don't have to set up travel arrangements or spend any additional money to do it.

At a minimum, schedule during a bye week or for a game against some shitty directional school like Jville state or Ole Miss.

A few years ago, my nephew got married. The girl he married is a bigger LSU fan than he will ever be. We went to a small church for the wedding - only invited guests - very small church.

After the wedding we went to my brother's house. Huge blowout party - Kegs, food, mixed drinks. Had huge tents set up with TV's outside with every TV tuned to the LSU vs Ole Miss game on.

People came to the after-party because the game was on. Free booze and food probably didn't hurt either. LSU won the game and the party got REAL good.
