Yet that doesn’t mean there won’t be a battle when he was asked whether he wanted Jennings to treat the job like it was his to lose. “I want them both, all three of the quarterbacks, to know that it’s going to be given to no one (and) earned by the one that plays,” he said.

"both"? Freudian slip? I think so. And then...

quote:

“I felt both quarterbacks, Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings, have gotten stronger and more capable,” Miles said. “Brandon, in his short amount of time here, has gained some weight and strength and just looks a little bit better.

Looks like Miles thinks it's a two horse race. All this from an Advocate article.

I think most people had already thought this.

Sad I thought Hayden had a decent chance

If Harris puts on more weight before the season .....which he can surely do.....continues to improve his accuracy.....I think some people are gonna be surprised!

According to Miles he's been losing weight.

Eta: Nevermind that's Rettig that has lost weight

Pretty sure it was a specific question about Harris and Jennings. Retting isn't out of it

Sounds to me like its a one horse race at this point. LSU is going to have a true freshman start at QB this year. If BH is that good the next couple of years are going to be great.

Anything that get's us great QB play is cool by me, but I didn't infer that from the article

If he already looks better this battle is already won.

I think he meant Brandon Harris looks better than he did, not better than the other QBs. But, I agree, if he meant better than the other QBs the battle would be over.

Miles wasn't saying Harris looks a little bit better than the other QBs. He was saying he looks better than when he first got on campus. Jennings is still the favorite to win the spot.

I know Les, I think Retting is already out of the picture. I think this is sad as he was really great in high school. I just hope Les gives him a chance!

For the life of me, I can not comprehend the people that say that Harris is going to come in and win the job.

They've made a judgement off of a mediocre game in January vs. a B1G team, yet have no basis of what Harris can do vs. any sort of college competition.

I saw Rettig play in HS, and I just don't think this is true. He looked very erratic, and at the time, I was disappointed that we were recruiting him. Before Cam, we did a crappy job evaluating QB recruits (JJ, JL, Bolden, Shepard, Rivers). Hopefully that has changed. I know a lot of people will say it was a lack of development, and I'm sure that played a part, but these guys were just bad.

The quarterback that has the most ground to make up is Harris, deemed one of the nation’s top dual-threat quarterbacks last fall at Parkway High.

“The older guys obviously know cadence, so there’s some comfort there,” Miles said.

“We want to have a quality competitive environment for Brandon and the other quarterbacks. So we have to bring Brandon up to speed to get comfortable with the offense, then let’s have at it and see who’s best.”

Miles said he already has seen a lot of improvement in the offseason in Harris, who was an early enrollee in January.

“I felt both quarterbacks, Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings, have gotten stronger and more capable,” Miles said. “Brandon, in his short amount of time here, has gained some weight and strength and just looks a little bit better.

“Hayden Rettig’s lost some weight. He looks more athletic, and he had a nice practice today.”

Does anyone really think Rettig has a chance to play here?

oh, yes. Definitely sounds like a QB that's ready and should be starting.

One thing is certain. LSU fans will believe the backup should be the starter.....whichever one it is.

I think Jennings will beat the other two out in the spring and fall

But that doesn't mean Harris won't see playing time
