It's a great joint, good cheap eats are always a winner.

Anywhere in particular as far as bars in South Tampa goes? Trying to stay away from the huge night club scene.

Besides my own bar in St Pete, if I were staying in Tampa, I would go to one of three areas: South Howard Ave...hang out at World of Beers and maybe the Dubliner, all the other bars are loaded with 21-30 year olds (if that is your age group, go there); Downtown/Channelside: LSU hotel has a good bar/restaurant called Jackson's (on the water and should be plenty of LSU players hanging out), Hooter's in Channelside, Tap's and Hattrick's downtown; the last area is Ybor City which looks alot like the French Quarter and has many decent bars for various types (gender prefences) and age groups (best is "Tampa Bay Brewing Comapany" for good food and Brewry beer.) Other good places in South Tampa to go are "Datz" on MacDill (for good food and craft beer), "Outpost" on Kennedy (for decent bar food and craft beer), Brickhouse on Dale Mabry to watch the Saints game on Sunday (decent food and craft beer, close to the stadium), new sorts bar on Kennedy called Ducky's (owned by Evan Longoria of Tampa Bay Rays baseball fame and great looking clientale)

arrived last night at Residence Inn near TPA, after enduring an awful delay on I-75 south from Ocala. Have my wife and niece/nephew also, and the kids were ready to get out of that car.

Hotel seemed overrun with Iowa fans, one fugly old lady Hawkeye fan actually talked a little smack to me while I was gathering kids toys and pink blankets in the lobby, but I had no energy to respond much.

Looking to have some fun today, so finally gonna read this guide!

Random FYI for Mass on Jan 1 near stadium...

There is an 8:30 Mass @ my kids school (St. Lawrence Tampa). Google for detailed location, but only 2 miles north of Stadium on Himes (runs right next to Stadium).

/why yes I will be leaving Mass @ 9:30 and starting to drink!

No I do not know of any independent shuttles...if you are staying in one of the bigger hotels, they likely do offer some type of shuttle service to and from the game. Check the OUTBACK website, the will likely have better info though.

Girlfriend and I just got in last night. Trying to find something to do for New Year's Eve. Might go down to St. Pete's. Any ideas for a younger couple?

Is the Salvador Dali museum still in St Pete? If so, I highly recommend it. I had no idea how big some of those famous paintings were. Absolutely incredible to see them in person.

If anyone is into art, it is a must-see.
