Almost everyone would agree that:

Les Miles has some very positive attributes as head coach of LSU.

Les Miles has some very glaring weaknesses as head coach of LSU.

He's probably a pretty smart guy. (Probably smarter than he sometimes sounds - a lot of us are that way on this board.)

There is a very reasonable path to success with him as head coach if he decides to take it. If he will just lead and mentor, and let others coach football, we could have incredible success in the coming years. Face it, no one really knows what Miles is going to do at this point, anyone can change. We might be in for a pleasant surprise.

Maybe we should all calm down and try to enjoy the ride, in any case this is going to be a very interesting next few months and year for LSU football.

I don't even think I agree.. Not any more..

I think Les Miles recruits great players and wins vs inferior opponents and struggles vs equal or more talented opponents.

I don't even think he makes good coaching hires any more. I think he once did.

I think he's just set in his ways.

I think he did use to bring tremendous intensity and the players fed off that.. but I don't believe he has the same intensity as before.. He seems more reserved to me, but I could be wrong.

Just the feel I get. I don't want to bash Miles, I am just down and wish we would go another direction.. because we will continue to just win 8-10 games a year.. which is "nice" but I believe we could compete for more.

I would calm down tremendously if he would make a beast of a hire at OC and stay out.. but will have to hold my breath.. I believe Les is a great figure head of a coach, but he needs some really good x and o guys to teach and call the plays.

I'm pretty convinced he only knows one way. With that said, who is or are his living mentor(s)? That's an angle we may want to consider taking...

Where are all of these coaches that don't struggle against more talented oppenents? Better yet, where are the abundance of coaches willing to come to LSU that don't "struggle" against equal opponents?

You make it sound like there are dozens of coaches sitting around that can consistently win in the SEC West

I traded my ride in in 2008 and 2011 did not bring me back...just sitting waiting for a new and much more improved model to come out. The 1975 Monte Carlo has gotten old!

I can agree with all of that. Not all of the OP.

We have heard this time and time again.. To be patient and the necessary changes will be made by Miles. They never have been. Why would you think it would change now?

Well I don't make 5 million dollars a year so Les is smarter than me but seems to think a little closer to my pay grade. He is a good coach and great guy. Without outstanding coordinators we are probably in trouble.

If he gets great coordinators and lets the OC run the game we should be ok.

He is surely not going to change now that the AD has zero leverage to make him do anything.

If you've never been in the position to say laughingly "what's he gonna do, fire me?" I'm here to tell you it's liberating and fun.

Les is feeling very liberated and having loads of fun today.

Miles surely understands that something serious has taken place (again I don't think he's stupid) over the last few weeks. I think he understands how close he came to getting fired.

While he has refused to change in the past, I think that this time could be different. I hope so.

In any case, he is here to stay for another year. He seems to truly love LSU and the players and coaches seem to love him and want to play for him. If he continues to foster this commitment from them, makes a few good hires, and lets the coaches do the coaching, we could have a formula for incredible success. I hope this happens, it is not far-fetched to think that Miles could make this happen.

Thank you. What is needed among all Tiger fans is a flag of truce on this topic. Let's all find things we can agree on. None of us are blind to what needs to happen - but fighting over what none of us can control only weakens us all. Geaux Tigers! I'm looking forward to our Bowl game, no matter where, no matter who. I see it as grace.

The OP was all opinion. Whether one agrees with it or not, there were no logical deductions drawn from indisputable facts. It was opinion. Because you may agree, that doesn't make it "logical", nor does it make those who may disagree in whole or in part, illogical. Get off your rhetorical high horse.

Less will continue to do the things he's always done. The good news is it should be entertaining.

The post wasn't directed towards people who argue with reason and logic. The post was directed at jack-asses who say dumb shite like " stfu pumper " all because their opinions don't match the OP.

I just like for him to have an open mind about opening up the offense and delegate the offense entirely to a competent OC. When it is 4th and 1 in the second half vs. Bama in a tight ball game Les needs to make the final call. But any other time he should delegate the calls and just make suggestions without completely interfering.

He does this then it will take care of the some of the problems we have seen. Of course it won't help Harris read defenses and not overthrown the pass:).
