Watching that clip I saw the question asked about why he waited till the end of the season to fire Jones. He kept saying it's just what you do and the right thing to do. Didn't see a follow up question on why Miles was let go early. Not defending Miles, just curious if anyone knows why the change of philosophy in six months?

It was. Wasn't going to make a slightest difference if he did it 5 games ago or now. Season was crap. Why bring even more drama to the players while the season was going on

Case by case. Not a policy. FB team could have won after the fire. BB never had a chance.

Alleva is a clown.

I have no idea why he is still employed other than he...like some of his hires...have unnecessary buyouts.

What is wrong with O's buyout?

You people need to calm down.

This team is going to be good. Aranda and Canada are in charge of their sides.

O realizes he has some good coaches around him.

I think the difference was that even with the 2 losses, LSU football still had a good chance to accomplish big things this past season. We were supremely talented and still basically controlled our destiny to win the SEC. He essentially didn't want to punt on the season.

LSU basketball wasn't that talented, and really had no chance of accomplishing anything this season.

Pretty sure Alleva wanted to fire Miles, but Alexander talked him out of it considering the circumstances.

100% sure Alexander should have fired Alleva for the way that was handled.

I have posted this over and over again. LSU should have never hired Alleva after the Duke debacle! Alleva needs to be fired ASAP.

Aleva had the luxury of having someone on staff to become interim coach when he terminated Les. He didn't have the same thing with JJ.

Yea he definitely put his foot in his mouth.

In football I think it was the only way he could get Coach O the job. That seemed to be what he wanted all along. He had to fire Les to give Coach O time for an audition.

why Miles was let go early.

Easy to answer. Alleva was afraid Les might turn the season around. LSU would look stupid firing a coach with ten wins or a coach with a top 10 team. So, he took Les out early. Shitty thing to do to the most successful coach in LSU history, but that's Alleva.

We may never know, but I can speculate that his stated reasons for getting rid of Miles early, primarily that it gave us a head start on other schools looking for coaches, proved to be invalid. Despite our supposed head start, we still got scooped by Texas for Herman and apparently we didn't make a move for anyone else that other schools were interested in. So maybe he learned that an early firing isn't really an advantage if you're a total incompetent who doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground.

Because a basketball season that's season is already tanked doesn't compare to a college football season with life left. This shite isn't rocket science, his answers were clearly applicable to our basketball coach. Its not like he forgot or changed his opinion on mid season coaching changes

This board never cease to amaze me wiitj the things they choose to nitpick and bitch about

Because Miles had 12 years a season-ending ultimatum. Jones git 5 yrs and wasn't coming off an ultimatum. See a difference?

He's represented the school the wrong way in his only responsibility the public sees. TWICE Unprofessional and needs to go.

Joe's "plan" all along was to hire Coach Captain Caveman.

Joe didn't have a Captain Caveman on the basketball staff to try and audition for the part
