Alleva MUST go and there is really no choice.

Whether it's in sports or business or politics or whatever, you simply cannot make a power play like that and not get it done. If you fail you have to go. The water is poisoned. The person you moved on will never trust you and the rest of the organization (the rest of the Athletic Dept. employees and the fans) will think you are a powerless incompetent.
Even worse to bungle a high profile affair. He's not only been exposed internally but also to rest of the nation.
Whatever Les future fate, it will need to be decided by another AD.

I think he deserves another year to "right the ship"

I agree. Alleva should be fired for tarnishing LSU more so than Miles. He mad us a laughing stock and got us bashed for the last couple weeks straight and his sneaky mission failed.

miles makes us the laughingstock every season

Why should he be held accountable if Les isn't?

LSU should have been on the phone with Herb Vincent and Dan Radakovich last night, as soon as Alleva opened his mouth and became less powerful than Miles.

Whether he "deserves" to be fired or not, I think they'll can him anyway. Someone must be sacrificed to save face.

now college football final is saying it might have been the wrong decision to keep Miles. Can't make this shite up.

Anyone with half a brain knows Miles needs to be fired. There are too many fricking sheep.

This is stupid. Alleva should be fired because ESPN and message board posters with "inside sources" are retarded?
All the admin did was float the hot seat story, and that was absolutely the right decision for several reasons: you needed to gauge fan and recruit response, you needed to see how the state would react on the money issue, you have to see if Les finally sees the writing on the wall, and lastly you must know if the right replacement coach is interested.
ESPN goes goddam full retard with their coverage, proclaiming him already done, then do an about face and practically have a candle light vigil for him the weekend of the game. This morning, they had the nerve to outline all of the issues the program has under Les and how they must be addressed after spending weeks vilifying the school for putting him on the hot seat in the first place. Don't even get me started on the idiocy that took place on here the last few weeks.
The boosters and admins made a play for Jimbo and they couldn't get him. PERIOD. I'm personally glad they are not emotionally blinded by Les and his quirky charm. they are willing to do whatever it takes to sustain the program's success.

He seems like a pretty nice guy though. It'd be pretty mean spirited to fire the guy.

Blame goes to BOS and boosters. Alleva takes his direction from BOS. He is not some rogue operative with total control. Want to blame someone, blame Alleva's bosses and the boosters.

Alleva has done enough for this university and deserves a chance to continue his legacy at LSU, regardless of results.
