And right after another shitshow season in 2012

10-2. 6-2 in SEC play. We had an awesome team, we just blew one against Alabama.

Cmon man, acting like Alleva is some saint ridiculous. He damn near tripled Nikki caldwell's salary to get her from UCLA. He allowed former players to completely dictate his most recent coaching hire. The way he's allowed this current situation to spiral completely out of control. There's plenty to dislike about Alleva.

And there's plenty to like about him too. He's done some great things here.

Jury is still out on him.

Jones just got the #1 player in the country here and certainly has the program moving in the right direction.

Yeah, he's probably a shitty game coach, but as far as the overall program, he's been very good for it.

Awesome teams are losing to Towson at halftime?

Honestly, like what? You credited him with the new baseball, softball and basketball facilities earlier. All 3 of those projects were either already under construction or finishing up the planning stages when he got to Lsu. So no, he gets no credit for any of those.

With that out of the way, what exactly is there to be excited about?

Well that's not true. Nice effort, though.

No credit for anything, of course. Also a new gymnastics facility.

Looks at our programs across the board and the success they're having.

Johnny Jones was a good hire. Beth Torina was a great hire. I understand that football is king and that's all people care about, but to act like he's done nothing for the athletics department while he's been here is laughable.

Don't forget to list amongst allevas accomplishments that the concourses in tiger stadium are a dump and the bathrooms resemble something from a Turkish prison.

Johnny jones a good hire? We hired someone who nobody else wanted. Guy was mediocre at north Texas for years.

You're right, Lsu got the lead back before halftime. My mistake.

Why are you trying to give him credit for 2 facilities that were already in the middle of construction when he was hired and another that broke ground 3 months after he was hired? What impact dd he have on the addition of those facilities?

The fact that you're fighting to have those included in your argument is actually really telling.

Ok, there's one. You also mentioned the tennis facility earlier. Tiger stadium upgrades. Field house renovation is at least aesthetically pleasing, even if it doesn't really benefit the track team.

What else?

Which programs are substantially more successful now than they were before Alleva? I'll give you softball. But who else?

Johnny Jones was a good hire.

I won't concede that. At best, the jury is still out. I'd actually be more willing to give you Trent Johnson being a great hire, because at the time it was.

I don't see anybody realistically saying that. But at the same time, to act like he's done nothing bad in his tenure is equally disingenuous.

I thought the buyout clause in the contract was in place before Alleva?

Men's golf just won a national title. Baseball is baseball. Van killed the women's basketball program and that isn't Alleva's fault, but the jury is certainly still out on Nikki.

Softball is better. Men's basketball is on the upswing. Gymnastics made the Super Six twice recently.

This past year might have been the best overall season that our teams have had collectively.

Johnny isn't a great game coach for sure, but we just made the NCAA tournament and brought in the #1 player in the country. Our class next year isn't great as of now, but I think it's hard to argue that Johnny isn't moving things in the right direction.

Yeah, Beth is the best hire he's made here. She's awesome.

Are you reading this board?

Plenty of people are saying he's incompetent, should be fired, etc. All I'm doing is presenting the other side of things. He's done a lot of good things here, as well.

The guy had 2 nba 1st round picks last year and didn't get out of the first round of the tournament. Hell, he barely made the tournament to begin with.

lol they were a 9 seed. The team has improved every year he's been here.

He isn't a good game coach. Duh. We know that. He's getting players here and we're making the tournament again. Pretty much the opposite of what was happening the few seasons before he got here.
