All this QB talk...Fact is Coaching is more important than Recruiting
This is not a fact. this is opinion. Players make coaches. plain and simple. Nick saban, who many hold in high regard around here, would not win a n.c. at vandy. And, he had the same record as shula did the prior year at bama his first year.
He recruited bettter players, bama became better. he was a loser in the n.f.l. where the talent margin isn't as drastic.
Curley hallman had brett favre, not many will claim he's a great developer of qbs.
Mike martz was an offensive genius until he lost kurt warner. David cutcliff hasn't "developed" another n.f.l. qb since he lost peyton and eli.
jimbo couldn't turn marcus randal into matt mauk. he couldn't "develop xavier lee or weatherford" however, he did well with palmer.
urban meyer couldn't develop brantley, yet, tim tebow was great.
Mack brown hasn't bee able to "develop" a qb since colt mccoy.
Shanahan hasn't been able to "develop" a qb in 10 years since elway, however, he gets rgIII and he's again a qb genius.
the FACT of the matter is our qb was mark richt's, whos a qb guru's, BACK UP QB. So no, other coaches can't make them into a top tier s.e.c. QB.
The critism should be, our coaches have done a poor job recruiting/evaluating talent at the qb position.
I do think it's getting better under krags. I think we have guys coming up that can and will change the table at that position.
