IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT OTHER TEAMS DO!!! They will only put 2 or 3 SEC teams in if they have to. 3 got in last year. We aren't in top 3. I'm so tired of this thread after every loss
Yeah you have no idea what you're talking about. You probably watch ESPN programming.

Because the league is way better than last year by every available metric out there.

Yeah, the league is much stronger in every metric and you hear most of talking heads giving the league a bit more respect as well.

There is a LOT of parity but it's being looked at more in terms of having a lot of pretty good teams instead of a lot of bad ones.

The parity though is pretty astounding so far. Really the standings from 6-2 to 3-5 records are mainly separated by who's played Kentucky (or Auburn, Vandy and Mizzou) more.

There's not been more than a handful of games between any of those 9 teams that haven't come down to the final couple of possessions either.

we're still in decent shape for the NCAA. State was one I think we needed but we have to make it up by beating someone I thought we'd lose to. Maybe win @ Tennessee or complete the season sweep of Florida by winning the return game at the PMAC.

That said, it's going to be close and it might come down to whether 11-7 is enough.

This is the completely illogical. They didn't get in b/c their RPI was shite

3 got in last year.

2014 SEC Standings vs. RPI (top 100)
1. UF - #1 RPI
2. UK - #16 RPI
3. UGA - #76 RPI
4. Tenn - #40 RPI
5. Arky - #68 RPI
6. Mizzou - #47 RPI
7. LSU - #80
8. Ole Miss - #93

2015 SEC Standings vs RPI
1. UK - #2 RPI
2. Texas A&M - #32 RPI
3. Arky - #21 RPI
4. LSU - #39 RPI
5. UGA - #27 RPI
6. Ole Miss - #48 RPI
7. Tennessee - #56 RPI
8. UF - #57 RPI
11. USC - #92 RPI

Conference is a lot better this year

You don't seem to understand the point, so I'll make it really simple for you.

Last year has zero significance for this year's RPI

The SEC didn't deserve many teams last year, it is looking like this year will be different. If it is, their RPI will reflect that, which was the point of this thread

Unfortunately, we have put ourselves in the position where we almost have to beat kentucky or take them to wire in order to make tournament. We have encountered 2 of the worst losses of any team this year with losses to a horrible mizzou and Mstate. Also, Mstate could have one of the lowest RPIs in NCAA.
Anyway, unless we find some outside shooting and interior defense, it wont make any difference.

At Least A&M keeps winning--------------

Where are people coming with this sky is falling crap. We are still sitting good as far as RPI goes for a tournament bid. No one was talking basketball last year, now everyone is here in droves yelling that all is lost and we won't make the tournament. When south starts talking about us being screwed for the tourney then y'all should worry but until then we don't have to do anything but dress up to play Kentucky as long as we take care of business with our other games.

Perhaps the RPI is ok now. I'm not sure 11-7 will cut it. Yes the Tigers would still have the SEC tournament to make a splash. Now 7 of 8 SEC games have gone down to the wire and I expect most of the remaining 10 will as well. Tigers need to win all the remaining home games with UK being the exception. Auburn, Bama, OM, UF, and UT all could beat us. Certainly LSU could win any remaining road games as well.

RPI is currently top 40 according to espn last year tenn was 37 and made the tourney...we had a drop but didn't fall off like I though we would after the state loss. Ole miss and tenn which were bubble teams going into the weekend are still significantly behind us
Beating Kentucky may be very important on two fronts: Besides the obvious RPI boost, if they already have a loss they will be less likely to feel the need to win the SEC tournament. Therefore it would be that much easier for LSU to win it and get an automatic bid.
