I hope he plays with Fresco when they come to NOLA

I've noticed that he has found a nice power stroke in pro ball. I realize he had a lot of pop at LSU, but I would say that he has found more power overall with the wooden bat.
He added 20 lbs in the off season and starting lifting the ball. At LSU he was told to stay on top of the ball and hit for contact.
The power has just made him that much more of a prospect.

Everyone thought AJ Reed was ready, also. He sits 0-15 with 8 strikeouts in the majors. Let Bregman ease his way into it. He will get there in due time.
I get your point, but they are TOTALLY different hitters.

He'll be playing against the Zephyrs July 14-17.

AJ Reed has been a slow starter at every level... Once he gets comfortable he is going to rake..

Paul hates home runs. He wants all little guys that try to steal bases. Power hitters have no place on his teams.

Geaux Bregs!
Just checked the Skysox schedule and they're not playing Fresno again this season.

bring him up now. Ty Cobb numbers, 15 year career.
don't waste him another minute.

I'd be surprised if Bregman made it to the majors this year unless he gets traded. The Astros are conservative about bringing up prospects, and money is usually at the center at that.
Best bet is that he's in Triple-A until next May or June when the Super Two date passes. It pushes Bregman's earliest arbitration date back a year and pushes his free agency back a year. In short, it gives the Astros an extra year of control over him.
For further proof, George Springer (called up in 2014), Carlos Correa (2015) and A.J. Reed (2016) weren't called up to the big leagues until after they passed their Super Two dates.
So while it's fun to watch Bregman tear apart the minors, don't expect him in the bigs this year unless he gets traded in a deadline deal at the end of the month.

Astros are conservative about bringing up prospects yet you cite them bringing up a 20 yr old last year as an example?

So what does he have to do in the minors to show that he's ready for the big-time?

In today's Houston Comical, the Houston manager said,
"I think for right now, it's important for Bergman to focus on his development. I'm not into the Bergman watch right now.
I'm into the 25 guys that are here and hope that he continues to grow and play at the caliber that he's playing, which is very impressive."
With Valbuena hitting the ball much better at 3B this year and Correa at SS, I'm don't think the Stros are in any hurry to rush him. I'm definitely cheering for him to have success here soon, but I'm also very pleased with the way the Stros are playing right now and don't any changes should be made at this time.
