I read a report a few days ago that he will be playing in their farm team (in Corpus Christi). But he's playing SS in today's game vs the Nationals.

Obviously I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to baseball spring practice and games, just curious if spring games are a carousel for young players.

Spring is a crapshoot. Farm players all over

Every team does it. They bring their more promising minor leaguers to spring practice knowing it's highly unlikely they will be on the roster next month.

It's just a way for them to get a free taste of the majors without starting their service time. The real question is who will move positions with Correa anchoring SS currently.

Edit: If I had to guess I'd move Correa to 3rd due to his size.

They will have many promising prospects attend spring training. That's why you will often see split squad games.

That is what most people think will happen. Correa has proven to be a pretty solid defensive SS though

Valbuena would probably get traded when the time comes or sent to DH.

My "everything is awesome and works out perfect for this current roster" Astros infield would be:

1B/DH: AJ Reed or Tyler White
SB: Altuve
SS: Bregman
3RD: CC

edit: I am talking down the line, not this year. Not sure why this is getting downvoted

I wouldn't be surprised if Bregman is traded this year. Especially if the Astros are in the playoff hunt. He is very good trade bait at this point and they could really get somebody to help them out this year at the trade deadline. A lot of season to play before then.

He is being used in different scenarios and against different pitcher types, the ones he is weakest against, to see how he has developed over the past year.

It will take time and I am still not sure where he will be playing for the Astros but he should be called up this season.

2B and SS are locked up for good with two of the best young players in the AL so maybe move him to 3B?

I have heard the opposite.
I think Bregman becomes the 3rd baseman.

Uhhhh..... what? He hasn't played above high A yet and has struggled at the plate in spring training. Why should he be called up this season?

There are a lot of projections of him being a September call up if not sooner. It depends on how he does at AA. Most teams call up prospects from double A straight to the big leagues. Triple A is usually for veterans on the 40 man roster and rehab assignments.

I'm a big fan of Bregman...I have a very very hard time believing he will be called up this season in September call ups. There just isn't a need on the big league club for him right now, even at 3rd. He's just not ready yet.

It depends on a few factors. Number one if he gets traded to a bad team or the Astros end up having a bad year and they use the September call ups just to get their prospects some experience, especially a guy that will definitely be called up in 2017. What late season injuries could occur to the Astros that he could step in for to keep them in the playoff picture. The baseball season is very long and a lot of things can and will happen.

Bregman will not suit up for the 2016 Astros. I'm sorry, he just won't. He has gotten 1 hit in 6 games so far this spring. He's just not ready and there are people ahead of him that are more developed at this point that will get a look at 3rd before him right now.

Only chance would be at short IF (god forbid I even say his name in this sentence) goes down with injury, and in that case Fontana would probably be who they call up for THIS season. Bregman is the better prospect, but he just isn't ready yet.

I think he has a better shot at being traded and called up by another team than playing for the Astros because i think they will be in the playoff hunt. Like I said a lot can happen throughout the course of a MLB season so i wouldn't rule it completely out.
