From the Reveille

quote:

The Intimidator will be the refurbished original sign from the old stadium with one addition — 2009, the year of LSU’s latest national championship.

quote:

The right-field area was originally supposed to be a grass berm, similar to the one in left field at Tiger Park, but LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri said it was decided that bleachers would be cheaper and hold more people than the berm.

quote:

With the additional seats, Mainieri said the stadium now has a seating capacity of 10,160. The capacity was 9,200 last season, and the average attendance was about 9,600 — meaning average attendance this season could reach 10,500.

quote:

Mainieri said new 60-foot foul poles have also been brought in to replace the original 30-foot ones, and the batter’s eye, situated behind the center-field wall, has been raised from 16 feet to 34 feet. The new foul poles will run $15,000 apiece, Ewing said.

I doubt a berm was ever the plan.

Why wasn't this in place originally? That batter's eye tarp with holes in it looked like shite and those dinky BREC foul poles were dumb.

You are wrong to doubt this. It was the plan.

Neither do you! How about I was at a meeting and heard Bertman talk about the Phase 2 stuff, including the berm?

You kidding right? Bertman had quite a lot do to with the plans of the stadium.

The Intimidator frame is up, went up today, It obstructs that view into the stadium from some angles, but if they do a dual sided billboard it will look really cool when the stadium is lit up.

My guess is that he was Athletic Director during the building of the new Alex Box.

I have no idea if what the other guy is saying has any truth to it though.

What are the plans for Phase 3? If indeed there is a Phase 3?

You don't remember all the info about the berm in RF? That was part of the original plan for sure.

If I had to guess, the next phase will be adding 12 suites to the grandstands.
