In the Tenn game I saw a lot of 3-4, is this their base D?

They play a ton or 3-4. They have the best LB group in the country and Saban's philosophy has always been to cover the middle of the field first. Cody is just about like having two linemen anyway so it really works out for Saban to run the 3-4. Plus, it gives him an extra LB, usually #13-Reamer, to send on blitzes.

i'd damn sure run out of that if i was facing LSU. rush 3 + guess who else is what i'd call it.

I'm afraid this is the biggest mismatch of the game on either side. I like our receivers slightly over their DB's but without time and a good QB that matchup is meaningless.
We're going to have to be able to run to win. That makes RS at tailback and interesting possibility, b/c I don't think wcan run against them between the tackles.
Our punting is also a problem.
Our defense will keep us in the game, IMO.

This is what scares me the most about this game. I'm pretty sure Saban will confuse JJ 90% of the time. With only 3 down linemen this could be the game that the big, powerful new FB and Ridley could do some real damage. All you have to do is have the FB pick up the first guy through the line and Ridley sure seems to have enough vision to pop off more than a few yards. Sounds easy right?

If we try to pound Scott up the middle all day it's going to get ugly in Tuscaloosa.

Helton is suppose to be back so that should help a lot.

Could also be a big game for Keiland Williams and Russell Shepard. I also agree that this will not be a good game for Scott. Saban's defenses are very beatable but running up the middle is not the way.

I think if you put Parsons at FB, LSU can have some success running against their base 3-4. However I think you'll see 8 in the box alot anyhow, with Bama daring JJ to beat them.

Helton is back per Les and LSU is currently 3rd in the SEC in net punting. Jasper is above average at pooch kicking as well. Should be alright. Do agree with the rest of your post. RS could be the difference maker and the new FB could be a wild card as well.

McClain is the only name I remember but they are a solid group(not better than LSU's IMO).
