I guess we'll be hearing how Arkansas is better than us too, and, gee if their backup left guard hadn't tweaked his ankle and if Tyler Wilson hadn't thrown that 4th quarter pick, they would have pulled it off.

And, then, after we beat Georgia, we'll be hearing how Georgia is better, but gosh, if Isaiah Crowell hadn't overslept that night and if Richt had gotten the bacon for the team that morning, ooh, it could have been different.

And, then, when we beat the crap out of Ok/Ok State/Bama/Oregon, we'll hear about how we lucked into it because we had more turnovers. And gosh, how is it fair that LSU gets to play for the national championship in their backyard. And woah, if we had just not gotten our starting safety hurt, it should have turned out differently.

That's what losers are relegated to, convincing themselves that it was all on them not performing, and that in a perfect world, with both teams performing at their absolute peak, that the loser would've won.

Jim Mora described this mindset very well in 1987:

Don't count on beating Arkansas like a DOG. That Hog bites like a Big Dog and will cut you wide open. Coach Miles will tell you that their Defensive Front has come together after getting some of the injured back.

It should be a good game. BTW, I live in the Tomball / Cypress Area about 25 miles from the Woodlands.

It should be a great game and a good team will win either way.

im usually not inclined to encourage these types of threads, but im getting a bit tired of "luckiest" #1 team in history. like were the first team to ever benefit from turnovers, or having a good special teams unit is an embarrassing way to win. we play a very tough schedule, and its always about the losing team just not playing well enough, but believes theyre better and theyd win a rematch. its getting fricking ridiculous

agreed...granted, in years past we have been the recipient of some good luck in high-profile games...we have also been dealt some shitty hands in equally high-profile games...

this year, I have seen no such scenario...we typically put up 40+ points per game and the turnovers that we have received have been mostly forced...this is the definition of a "damn strong team"....

anyone claiming otherwise is just licking their wounds...

This isn't just an LSU thing dude. This happens every year to every top team except the rare 2001 Miami or someone like that.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Let the "analyst" say whatever they want, I'll take the crystal ball and walk away.

Arkansas has played like dog shite on the road this year.

Our players have been talking about Arkansas in their Interviews all season. Our boys have revenge on their minds.

Put me in the blowout category.

And, there it is. A lot of what the uninformed calls "luck" is a manufactured product by the great teams.

I find Oregon's argument hilarious and ironic. They say they were the better team and if it wasn't for 4 unlucky turnovers they would have beat lsu. So what about their win against stanford who had 5 turnovers. Does that mean they didnt deserve to win that game?

Well, the talk of this being the best CFL team ever or even the greatest lsu team every is a bit premature.

I am a realist. This game will be a real Dog Fight. If you think anything less, you will lose. It will be a 60 minute battle and will take 24 pts. minimum to win.

I don't expect this game to get out of hand unless either team has big trouble holding onto the ball.

LSU has taken complete control of all but the Bama game late, but I see the Hawgs mounting a couple of scoring drives each half - maybe some field goals, but something like 30 - 17 or 33-24.

I just don't see the Hawgs scoring in the mid-30s OR stopping LSU's offense consistently, though.

I think you're probably close on the points due to the first half. Problem for Arky is, most of the "60-minute battle" is gonna' be on Arky's defense with LSU having the ball for most of that time pounding them on sustained drives. The only threat from the Hogs is through the air and they will have a tough time gaining consistency through the air for the length of the field...(so far, no one else has). Arky is improved and is admittedly a decent team but they ain't ready for prime time. LSU will not only win but will win convincingly by dominating the 4th quarter.

this

- Arky's run defense is terrible. Pick your running back.
