After watching the Tigers offense through two games

How does everyone feel about the identity of this offense? The power run game seems to be as good as it ever was. Impressive considering we are starting 2 freshman at the guard positions. The passing game is being used sparingly, but we have shown big play ability there. Even with very limited attempts, our play calling is much more creative. The tight ends and backs are just as involved in the passing game as the reviewers.
I love this offense and what Cam and Miles have put together. Who is ready to eat crow and say we have an offense capable of winning us a game?

I'm still hungover from yesterday

I thought we showed more diversity with the running game yesterday than ever before. Misdirection, shovel passes while in motion, wide side options, HB cutbacks, etc. Very exciting to see.

I'm excited with our identity is. I know a lot of people are still concerned with the passing game, but I'm confident it's solid. It's been used sparingly due to lack of need. If LSU gets put in the position, I think you'll see more if necessary. That being said, our identity will be a run oriented team. Our biggest strengths our the OLine and running backs. We're just more competent this year passing which makes the run so much more effective

I can't speak for others but the lack of passing wasn't the issue for me. The complaint I had was that in the past we have been so predictable. Previously you could almost predict what they would run based upon the down, distance and formation. They have broken this trend.

2nd half of the Miss St game had me worried about the direction this offense was going. But the auburn game took the first half of the Miss St game and built on it. Love the direction it is going,. It's a work in progress and we just added a whole bunch of new pieces to it Saturday. This offense is just going to keep getting more diverse, more complete, better.

we are gonna be like Auburn 2013
Lots of running, lots of options, lots of Fournette
Slower pace though
I think we the next few games well see harris air it out more just to get him comfortable doing it.

I do like how we are seeing them expand on the concepts in the playbook. The fake jet sweep with Harris running the opposite way was a nice wrinkle yesterday.
We also saw a personnel group with a lot of possibilities for the future yesterday, when they put Williams in at FB in the I with Fournette. They just ran up the middle, but you could see Harris and Fournette start to trail off and fake a wide option. Remember how much Arkansas used to use that with Peyton Hillis, McFarland, and Jones? This formation has real potential with our playmakers.
The inconsistent element is still down the field passing. Harris has made some good throws, and has had a few poor ones. He hasn't had any horribly bad reads, but eventually the staff is going to have to press things more, because they will eventually find themselves in a situation when they are behind and need a quick score.
However, unlike last year, there is real potential for a big play passing game this time around. Harris had a big arm. He just needs to refine it and get in a groove with the WRs at game speed. That's different that throwing the ball around in summer drills or fall camp. The next two weeks are really important for working on this in a lower risk environment. I hope the staff chooses to really work on the pass game, rather than just play vanilla like they often do with non-con games

Most creative calling I've probably ever seen a run game called from Les Miles team. We really haven't even began to see the entire offense and that's scary for opposing teams anyway. Here's the deal I think we are so diverse now that no one will really see the same stuff on any given game. They can actually attack teams how they want because we can get it done in many ways. If they take the middle away we can go outside if they bring too many inside we can go over the top if they cover the big play we can attack the middle and flats. We can really be unstoppable if we execute the plays that are called. I think the OL will get better and so will the offense which is crazy. I won't be eating any crow because I was sure we would break out this year. Cam is too smart with too much experience to not coach these boys up. Anyone saying anything diff was just dumb or blind or both. GT

identity of this offense?

I think bayoubengal hit the nail on the head. Scouting report against Auburn showed a weak run defense. We exploited a weakness and "ran" with it. I think we have more balance than we've shown. I think once we come against a team with a weak secondary(A&M/Bama/USCe) we'll throw more and exploit different weaknesses.

I've been saying the same exact thing. So fair warning:
If ballcaster or gray tiger see your post they will drop everything they are doing and run post how stupid you are and the previous game plan was perfect and that Miss State never had a chance to win.

What is scary about the offense is that we will have most of them back next year too.

We'll find out if this is true vs. Syracuse who gave up 430 yards passing last game.

I want to believe that BH is the real deal and Cam is breaking him in slowly bc the running game allows it. So that's what I'm going with. The passing game will be there when it needs to be.

With LF blasting stacked lines to shreds, receivers will be running free downfield. Diversification of the offense will be a self-correcting problem.

Against Central Michigan no less.
373 the week before against Wake Forest
Hopefully we can beat Rhode Island's 60 yards passing, but damn thats risky for this team, really risky to pass it that much.

not necessarily. there are still times (about 3/4 of the time against AU) where you could tell what was about to happen. alot of that was because good ole #7 was in the backfield but even with Guice and Williams you could smell run from where we were sitting.

The way LSU can execute the power running game, the big thing for the passing game is to be effective. If it is considered effective by the opponents especially on big plays, you may not have to use it like the last 2 games.
That pass to Dural that was called back in the first series of the MSU game was a think of beauty and impressed on every SEC coaches mind. Couldn't have happened at a better time. Later they picked up several first downs when passing was needed and Harris has scrambled for for a number of first downs and good yardage.
These things keeps the opponents from setting up to stop the power running game. The fact that we use 3 or more WR 50% of the time keeps things honest.
