I have come to the conclusion that it is in fact as bad as we thought it was. Pitiful all around.

Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

I do think that Mississippi State was the better team this year. But I do not believe they were 30 points better. That falls on coaching. The team gave up.

Defensively it just seemed like we were overmatched. Offensively it felt like nothing was different and we continued to beat our heads against a wall.

We should be used to it by now.

State will lose their next two..@ Georgia & @ Auburn, then later at home v. Alabama. Where we go from here is anybody's guess.

I have hope for the defense. I think Aranda will get it under control. From the beginning he has tried to convince us we were young and he was having to do a whole lot of coaching. I have a feeling by the time Bama game comes we will be stout on defense. But I have no confidence in the offense. I do think Canada is a great coach but I think we lack the talent necessary to do anything to an SEC defense.

Stopping them on 3rd downs to have penalties give them a 1st killed me.

Yeah, State will lose a couple of games this year. In the grand scheme of things our goals are still in reach but I have no illusions of this team being good enough to reach them. They'd have to win out and barring some miracle that is not happening.

Six OL left the team during the off season. That kind of attrition comes with a price, which was paid Sat. night. LSU is playing what, 19 true freshmen? It shows. The coaching staff has to make it a priority to rebuild the O and D lines. Until that is fixed we'll continue to get whupped.

I believe that this Miss St team is pretty good, not Bama good but better than a lot of people want to give them credit for. College football is all about good QB play and this Fitz kid appears to be one of the better QB's in the SEC and probably NCAA as a whole. If he continues to play at that level and their D line can get that kind of push against other SEC O-Lines then State could very well contend with Bama in the West this year. I seriously doubt that Miss State can beat Bama head to head but if Bama drops a SEC game like they usually do then State may be right there in the race.

JMO but the SEC looks to be down this year so a team like State may just have a shot!

I knew this would be a rebuilding year but no way would I have predicted this kind of an arse whopping by the cow bells. Coach Cookie Monster bout to bring us the back to the 90's. I bet Les is wiping his tears of laughter off with $100 bills.

The entire game can be summed up in 3 words. Lack of discipline.

I was certainly no fan of Miles and was all on board for firing him at the end of 2015, let alone last season. But say what you want, his teams were ALWAYS discipline and on the plus side of the penalty ratio.

I hate to say it, but the team we watched Saturday night looked almost exactly like O's teams at Ole Miss looked. Poor discipline and costly mistakes. So what exactly has he learned again?

Team wasn't mentally prepared.

We will see if that can be corrected moving forward.

State was the better team Saturday night, period! We played like hot dog shite. Anything and everything went wrong from the 1st drive of the game. I'm not a big fan of "If", but with that being said. If, we get that 1st drive TD the way it should have went down this game could have turned out different. Football is a game played on emotions and confidence. As the game went along and we kept shooting ourselves in the foot time after time after time, it can get away from you, just like what happened Saturday night!

It's over, time to back this team and move on!

If you think we got our butts handed to us because of Etling then I just do even know what to say to that...

We will likely lost 4-5 more games if we continue to play the way we did @ state.

ETA:I guess there is a pussy on this site who thinks we can win a bunch of games playing the way we played Saturday......good luck with that.

I tried to rewatch the game and it pissed me off even more.
Didn't even make it to half time because I knew the outcome.

Did I say that dumbass?

I said we are very limited on what plays we can call on offense because Etling doesn't have a strong arm or isn't mobile.
