Whoahhhh!!

Wait one minute.

I didn't see Tre Valebtine in that depth chart. The rant assured me that he was THE reason we go 15-0 without allowing a single point vs the D this year.

Nagging, nuisance type injuries yes, but that hasn't near the effect of his lack of playing time. He's not the 6th olineman that they want from the TE.

I don't even know why we recruit receiving tight ends honestly.

You're 100% right that they want a blocking tight end first, and if he can catch, it's just lagniappe.

It is criminal that DeSean Smith can't unseat those two on the depth chart

Is it really? I mean how many seasons does one have to watch to realize that LSU doesn't see the TE as a part of its passing game. The TE in LSU's offense is basically just an extension of the offensive line. Collin Jeter caught 12 passes last year. That was the first time an LSU TE caught double digit passes in a season since 2011. It would also be the 4th most prolific season for an LSU TE since 2009 (the year LSU's offense really started to go towards the ultra-conservative approach)

In 2015 there were 15 TEs in the SEC that caught more passes than Jeter. Every other SEC team except AU and A&M had at least one TE with more catches than LSU's leading TE (Jeter). In 2014 17 SEC TEs had more catches than the 7 by LSU's top TE (Dickson). Every team but A&M had a TE on the roster with more catches.

Jeter seemed to be a bit of a hybrid (blocking and catching) and Moreau was a solid blocker. LSU isn't throwing to the TE, so they may as well put in guys who can help out in the running game.

I heard the staff talked to him about moving to safety but he's set on staying at corner.

this is my biggest concern

I have zero concern about that. Duke Riley has proven to be a solid SEC caliber athlete. He's very self-confident, and he's done well in limited action so far. I don't expect all-SEC, but it won't be a weakness.

The weakness we have that no one seems to notice or care about is in our two-deep at outside linebacker there's only one guy who can run. I promise you that is a much bigger problem than Duke at inside.

We've been able to get blocking tight ends to catch, why can't we get our receiving tight ends to block?

Why can't smith and Washington just toughen up and block as effectively as Jeter and Morreau?

Washington looked as good as any receiver we had catching the ball this spring. I hope the light turns on for him soon.

They have said the specific thing holding him back was the injuries. He can block, he just hasn't really ever been near 100% when he's had the opportunity to step up. I think a big reason they went out and got Jeter a while ago was due to the question behind Smith's injuries. Not much doubt he's a more talented guy than Jeter is, obviously Foster is in there just to block. Not like Jeter is a huge guy, in fact Smith is bigger when you compare 6'4 245 to 6'7 245.

That guy Foster Moreau was one of the steals of the last recruiting cycle. To me, he looked better than Jeter already. He has great hands and is physically imposing even as a freshman.

That 2015 recruiting class might turn out to be LSU's best ever when all is said and done.

LSU refusing to use talented people is what is mindblowing. When Alabama was dryhumping us across the field, I remember DeSean Smith being used precisely once to get 26 yards. You'd think they might go back to him, but I suppose you had 20 ineffective running plays you wanted to run before that.

I don't really "get" what nickelback entails but does this mean that they're projecting White to not be in when we're in a typical 3-4?

Other than against pro-set teams like Wisconsin, Alabama, Arkansas there are usually 5 DBs on the field to cover the spread and 3 or 4 wide formations.

I don't have any stats to show it, but I would think the percentage of plays that only 4 DBs are on the field is fairly small.

This is someones guess, it doesn't include any newcomers because they aren't really on the team until they report. Anderson and White were listed as they went thru spring. Overall, it is probably fairly accurate at this point, but will not be exact for the Badgers for numerous reasons.

Stupid. Regardless, he will be in the rotation and adds to the depth.

He is huge for LSU. We go from being thin at the position to having some quality depth this season.
