well, unfortunately this list requires imagination and initiative (which is sorely lacking from the LSU Administration and Athletic Director...
what can be done immediately:
1) drop parking fees other than central campus
2) increase the number and frequency of buses coming to Tiger Stadium
3) you have railroad tracks running by the University, find out how you can use them...i.e. run something with some passenger cars from the old IC station downtown to campus several times...now they're going to say, where can we get the cars...ever heard of the New Orleans Public Belt RR?
4) get with the state police and local law enforcement entities, fix contraflow routes...publicize them and keep them consistent...
longer term:
1) let people apply for parking passes based on where they live and their entry/exit route
2) build a 4 story parking garage on what is left of South Stadium Parking; this garage should have 20 foot clearances on the lower level (15 foot on 2 and 3) and RV hookups for 50 amp power, water, and sewer...half of the second level should be set up for easy conversion to a beer garden (not in the stadium :-), right?) and the remainder can be sold...
Now what the parking garage does is enables a lot of RVs and cars to park closer, provide covered parking for a lot of people, and something for them and a lot of other people to do before and AFTER the game...

Parking garages are usually a complete clusterfrick.

some very good ideas here

quote:The parking thing is the #1 reason I attend fewer games now. And, it's not about money since I end up paying some private person for a space in their yard or business. It also killed my family's tailgate that has been going on for as long as I can remember. Again, not cost, as we would pay to park, but we simply don't have that option anymore.
