A Real Team Leader Would Have Quickly Ended Opponent's Pregame Taunting

Bitch slap, body slam, sucker punch, open a can of whip arse, bring some hurt, or however you want to put it, that is how a real Tiger team leader would have put an end to MSU player Simmons having the balls, (or just being completely insane, stupid, or maybe even told to do so), to run into the Tiger's pregame warm up area/den, and proceed to get in the face and taunt the team.

There's absolutely no way, no how, and just can't happen. Player discipline is a must, but there's a line that can't be crossed, and when an opponent crosses that line, like Simmons did, a different form of discipline must be administered and a clear message sent to the opposition of how that kind of shite will be handled. Any of them thinking about crossing the line will be in the hospital bed next to Simmons.

I'm not sure if any penalty would have even been assessed. I could be wrong, but it doesn't matter. It was an hour before kickoff, and the refs (for sure) were obviously drinking beer and smoking weed in their locker room.

As a result of no Tiger stepping up and putting Simmons on the ground, (because he got in the way of a pass rushing drill or whatever, resulting in missing a few teeth, a broken nose, maybe unconscious, and knowing that was a mistake he'll never make again), Simmons then runs to midfield, taunts and even shoves a Tiger, and still no response from an LSU team leader!...Oh, Arden Key (who was a liability in the game and by no means an ALL AMERICAN asset), acts like he wants to go after Simmons and had to be restrained......please, give me a break! If Key was a real team leader he would have been on Simmons like white on rice before anyone had a chance to try to stop him. THAT IS WHAT REAL LEADERS DO! (Remember what happened to T.O. when he stomped on the midfield star at Texas stadium?)

Simmons set the tone of the game before it even started. My opinion is it was designed, or for sure approved by MSU coaches to test the Tigers, just like a teenager will test their parents to see how much they can get away with before parents reel them in. MSU proved LSU HAS NO TEAM LEADERS, and that is the root cause of the embarrassing loss, on a Saturday night during football primetime on national TV, that could leave a long lasting impression on the program unless some team leadership emerges very soon to turn things around. Without team leaders, no team can survive, and for sure not win a championship!

I realize many Tiger players and starters are young, but leaders are born, not made. Danny Etling is a great person, disciplined, and has the skills to QB the team, but he's not the leader type, just like Eli Manning doesn't possess that trait, but it hasn't stopped him from winning 2 Super Bowls and 2 MVP trophies!

I'm positive there are some strong leaders among the freshmen, but they're looking to older players for leadership, waiting until it's their time. Well young men, their time is NOW!

Agreed. A real team leader would have gotten himself ejected before the game starts.

Simmons is who you think he is. He beat the hell out of a woman on the ground. I can't further express my opinions because it would get me banned.

I didn't catch game until 2nd drive of the 3rd. Lot of people disagree with you I'm sure. Not me I would really expect someone to step up as you say. That's fighting actions and setting tone early. Just have to be careful cuz that stuff gets out of hand extremely fast. But if rather it get out if hand a little and maybe we would have been a little more salty like we r used to.

Wall of text and you're a dumb arse. Before knowing the outcome of the game, nobody wanted a team leader getting suspended before the game

Well, the leadership on the Tigers was lacking throughout the game, as the team responded poorly to Mississippi St's game plan.

Who knows for sure if anyone would have been suspended? As mentioned in the "wall of text", that you obviously didn't read, it happened 1 hour before kickoff. I'm not positive of the rule, but guessing a coach could suspend the player or maybe NCAA/SEC, but IMO a coach would congratulate and appreciate a player doing the right thing by shutting up an opponent being brazen enough to insult the team like Simmons did. So what if the player got suspended, LSU has enough talent to fill the hole, provided the talent is used and plays fundamental football, knows their assignment/responsibility (too many examples to count of players not doing that), and the talent not wasted by being ejected or acting stupid. Plus it would have lit a fire under the other players (who obviously needed it) and they rally around the suspended player for stepping up and doing the right thing, regardless of the consequences, and suspended player opened up the entire can of whipass! Most importantly, you missed the entire point of my post! THERE IS NO TEAM LEADER to be concerned about getting suspended before the game!!! This must change immediately and team leaders establish themselves!

I just don't understand it. I'm hoping a real leader emerges, conducts a players only meeting this week, and asks all players do some soul searching. These young men are better than what they showed on the field Saturday night, but they let the team down, the coaches down, the fans down, the university down, and most embarrassing, they let themselves down the way they played. To be a football player at LSU or any other major university, they have to have pride, heart, and what my HS coach would call "intestinal fortitude", aka GUTS! I truly believe they will make amends by playing up to their potential and won't allow a repeat of that debacle.
