Early departures - check
Excellent recruiting - check
Young and inexperienced - check
Skill positions raw - check
Questionable play calling - check
O-line subpar performance - check
SEC West - check

Miles (coaching staff) deserves a pass for all that has transpired and will continue to happen this season, but if this continues again next season then it will be a different situation that deserves appropriate attention and action. Miles has proven to be quite successful, but will he rebound with the young and talented players in the program?

Agreed, but say it does happen again next year. What will the pumper's rally cry be then?

Did you pay $2500 for your season tickets to see a coach who makes 4.3 million a year to put a competitive team on the field against other SEC West teams - Check

“I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. ~ Michael Jordan

ah yes, the excuses.

Look, I understand we'll have an occasional down year. It happens, and we can all accept it.

But this year, we're not just a little down, we look absolutely terrible and unprepared.

And THAT is not acceptable.

This is a BS excuse. These two go hand in hand. Getting playes to the NFL is a recruiting tool for LSU. It should not be an excuse for losing also. Miles and the staff should know kids will leave early so they should be prepared for it.

Again more BS. Yes the west is strong but there is no reason that teams such as State and Piss to have blown passes LSU as they did. All the while Bama and Aurburn are pulling further and further ahead.

"A pass for this season"

This is where I come down, for many of the reasons noted in the OP. Now, I reserve the right to grumble if we don't seen signs of rebuilding NOW so the we can reload after only a one-year hiatus.

excellent recruiting- uncheck. Better take a look at 2012, LBer recruiting, DL issues. Better ask why we don't do better in TX with all the talent there. Better ask why we have completely missed on QB signing (outside of Mett, for a year). Better ask why our staff is not allow out on Friday nights and why Miles goes to see his son play instead of making Friday night rounds. EXCELLENT recruiting has not been here since 2011.

You forget Harris was one of the top QBs from this last class?

Miles job is not to put players in the NFL but to put a quality product on the field.

Miles is directly responsible for what they have. If he ends up with no more than a couple of SEC wins (or worse), he should be blamed for failure. Modern-day LSU should never have that bad of a season.

A non-championship season? Sure.

Losing to MSU's best team in decades, and a very good AU team on the road? Tough to swallow, but reasonable.

Looking like you absolutely don't belong on the same field as MSU and AU? Sorry, I can't go that far.

The "youth" excuse only goes so far. The OL is far from young and inexperience, yet they have been the worst group on the offensive side of the ball

To the contrary, the WRs might be the most inexperienced group, yet they have looked like the best group on offense.

On defense the DTs are young, but it's not unreasonable to expect that at least one of the 5 or 6 LSU brought in 2 years ago would be an impact player. They haven't. Hell, 2 of the guys can barely see the field on one the worst LSU DLs in the last 20 years. The DEs are experienced, and though Hunter had a decent game against AU, their careers have largely been unremarkable.

IIRC LSU brought in 6 LBs three years ago. So far, Alexander is the only one of those 6 to make even the slightest of impacts.

They'll just cite his record and how he built the LSU program ALL by himself. Plus, they'll throw in how Saban lost to UAB and ULM and how everyone who questions Miles absolutely hates LSU football.

Funny how the pumpers just blow it off as "well, LSU lost to 2 top 5 teams and they're young". They completely overlook the way LSU lost and how they totally looked like they didn't belong on the field...and how EVERY player, senior or freshman, was completely dominated. Pumpers just say "hey we lost all is good", while they sing zippiddy do-da and stare at Les Miles pictures all day with shaking lips and tears in they're eyes.
