quote:

Dear LSU Family,

Universities like LSU have important missions to fulfill. We are responsible for educating the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and doers. In fact, as a member of the 1% of U.S. universities holding land-, sea-, and space-grant designations, we are tasked with generating research that will solve the world's biggest challenges where they hit closest to home right here in Louisiana. Disease, coastal erosion, diminishing supplies of clean water -- you name it, and LSU is working to solve it. And we are committed to giving back to our communities through outreach and support.

In recognition of the critical role we fill, LSU is recommitting to our flagship roots through our new Strategic Plan. This document outlines a razor-edged focus on six challenges facing our state:
Advancing Arts & Culture
Bridging the Coast, Energy, and Environment
Fostering Research and Catalyzing Economic Development
Improving Health and Well-being
Transforming Education
Developing Leaders
Through channeling our collective efforts toward real-world problems that have local ramifications and global implications, we will provide our students with a world-class education that sets them up for success throughout their lifetimes.

We think that's a mission worth having.

Sincerely,

F. King Alexander
LSU President

So basically he is telling everyone F you, and he doesnt care about athletics, you know the economic engine of this university.

Man listening to him I would think LSU is on par with Harvard and Yale and Stansbury. Well F.King, we ate 133 in the nation tied with freakin Mercer, The New School, and Rutgers.......Newark. And we are only ahead of Arkasas, Ole Miss, and Ms State in the SEC. Great work you are doing here F. King.

The Board of Supervisors need to get this guy out of here. All this fluff and he is laying a rotten egg. Not only is he allowing the football program to falter, his main goal sucks too.

ETA: Downvote if you support F. King Alexander.

Talks a lot; says very little.

I'm not the biggest F King fan, but if that's your takeaway from this email then you might want to work on your reading comprehension.

You can (and should) want to advance the school athletically, academically, and culturally.

If LSU were 5-0 you wouldn't contribute anyway to the academic side...3-2 with a figurehead coach just gives you an out.

This letter was written out of the blue to give everyone an update on his mission at LSU.

Again. How well is he doing at that? Not very. before him LSU was in the 60's nationally and inthe top half of the SEC.

In full disclosure, I was about to upvote until I saw your dismay at getting downvotes.

Prepare yourself. There's probably a lot more coming.

That was my thought too.

This was about a future program pertaining to development on the academic side. It wasn't a dig at the athletics side. It is a really far reach to assume that this was a fricking shot at the football fans...

i guess the fascination with downvoting someone is more important than trying to fix the problem at LSU. Rather par for the course for the retards that frequent this board.

I'm downvoting because it's a dumb argument.

F King's job is President of the University, not just the Athletic Department. There are legitimate critiques to make against him, but your take away is that our actual strategic plan for advancing the entire University needs to be based upon athletics? Do you even realize the breadth of the University's academic operations?

As long as people think like you this state is doomed.

ETA: And this is from someone who thinks football is going nowhere with Alleva and Orgeron. But our football concerns are not exactly the scope of this document.

LSU is a school, not a football factory!

I thought that we cheered for LSU's books, classrooms and wacko Leftist professors just as much as we cheer for the football team!

I guess I was wrong!
