There has been some criticism of the LSU coaches for taking the bunt off after the count got to 2-0 on Bryce Jordan with Robertson on 2nd in the bottom of the 9th.

Let me take you back in history. Bottom of the 9th in the 2000 National Championship Game, LSU and Stanford tied at 5 a piece. LSU gets the first two batters on base. Brad Cresse is up. The strategy calls for a bunt, but Cresse swings away and drives Ryan Theriot in.

I asked Skip about that and why he didn 't bunt and he said, "the next guy up would have been walked and that he didn't think the one after him was reliable in getting the ball to the outfield.

Even Skip may have done what Manieri did today

We couldn't hit our arse with both hands in this game. Neither would have worked.

Please God, don't tell me you are comparing Cresse to Bryce.

Skip didn't call for a bunt from 1990-2001.

Newsflash: Bryce Jordan isn't Brad Cresse.

It is not, but you still want this runner to 3 rd base in each case, but in both cases Bertman and Manieri knew their players and chose what to do. I trust the coaches over the tigerdroppings posters any day.

I would have taken the bunt off too once he got to 2nd. Especially after the pitcher threw two straight in the dirt.

Your story is such a lie. Skip would have said I didn't bunt Cresse because it was Brad fricking Cresse, moron. Now get out of my way. Sandy cooked pork chops.

2 things; 1. anyone on today's team could've driven in that run with those bats. 2. Brad Cresse =/= Jordan boys.

good post. the thing about it is no one knows what the batter is going to do. our coaches know more about the players ability than we do. some guys just aren't worth a damn at bunting.

if it works, it is a brilliant coaching move; if it doesn't work our coach is stupid. that's the fans way (at least some of them).

skip bertman made a ton of "bad" calls (those that didn't work). just like every coach in the world does.

If this is the case, you must think ALL coaches can never be wrong? At every level. That all coaches know their players better than fans so every decision is without fault?

Newsflash, Bryce Jordan has made some clutch hits like a couple of nights ago, and also, brad Cresse was mired in a terrible slump in the 2000 CWS. I still trust Mamieri over the posters on this board.

You had one of Your top RBI guys at the plate looking at a hitter's count. Hindsight is 20/20. CPM let the kid swing. Nothing wrong with that.

1-0. It happens in baseball.

Why are you still acting like bunting Cresse was even an option? What the hell is wrong with you?

First of all, that is what the man told me to my face at an autograph signing.

Next, learn civility and manners before you start calling people moron who you don 't even know. Do you have kids ? If do, would that kind of behavior be acceptable f he addressed someone in the same way?

Disagree, which is your right. Insult me : totally unacceptable

Bryce is tied for 6th in RBI on the team. He had already struck out twice earlier in the game. It was not a good decision to let him swing away there.
