1. Etling was by no means spectacular but he did some things I liked. My favorite thing he did was show some leadership. He encouraged Dupree after his first drop and tehuma after the offsides. I haven't seen that from an LSU qb in years. He also showed some good pocket mobility. His second half numbers are ugly but he did have the big Dupree drop, I thought at the least Dupree could have broken up the interception, and he had a big third down completion to meter called back on a hold. Guice also could have caught that ball. He gave our guys a chance and that's all I can ask. Also, much fewer three wide sets and a lot more information in the second half. Definitely has a ways to go but I think he showed enough to build on.

2. Dupree is officially a problem. He doesn't fight for the ball, isn't catching the ball, and somehow gets the most targets. He has 4 drops in 2 games and allowed an int to take place tonight that he could have prevented. If there is one thing we have on this team it is tall fast dudes. We have to find someone else. You can't have a dynamic passing game if your #1 receiver can't make plays for your qb.

3. Guice is very, very good. But he is not Leonard. I'm glad we have Guice for next year though.

4. I'm okay with the defense so far. We still have a ways to go but I can't argue with 14.5 points ppg, especially with our offense thus far. Take out the big play and they had a very good night tonight. I was encouraged that we had at least 4 times of getting to the qb just late. Even though we didn't get the sack on those plays, the hits took a toll. Secondary has to play more sound and we have to tackle better.

5. Special teams were much better, actually a positive tonight.

All in all, I give it a solid B- Not really close to an A but far from an F. At least we attempted to change some things up and it gave us some things to build on. I could be setting myself up for huge disappointment but I am not ready to throw the towel in yet.

Can't argue with any of that. Etling played better than his stats show, and that's what's making everyone so optimistic.

Underrated post of the night. Solid.

I'll just add that dropped balls and calling running plays the whole second half kinda squashed DEs stat line. LSU was a completely different team when DE came in.........and the best player in CF was in sweats on the sideline. Amazing what a 3 WR set will do for the running game..............imagine if they ever go 4 wide.....

He did. If the 2nd quarter play calling had continued, his stats would have been much better. Les had to return to being Les though.

They actually were much better. Even that kick to the corner at about the 5 yard line did work to perfection as our cover guys were getting down quick and blowing up the blockers and JSU started from the 15 yard line many times, heck even the 10. I would still prefer no drama and kick it out every time so there are no runbacks
