On October 11th, 2008, LSU was the king of college football. They were 4-0, the defending National Champions, and ranked 4th in the country. On that day, they went down to Gainesville to take on Tim Tebow and the 11th ranked Florida Gators in a national televised game. Les entered that game with a career record at LSU of 38-6, (a winning % of 86.3%), a conference record of 21-5, (80.8%), and had finished the previous 3 season ranked in the Top 5.

What followed was a straight up arse kicking as Florida destroyed the defending National Champions 51-21 that night.

So with all that in mind, here are the records and stats compiled by Les Miles' team since entering the Florida game that October night.

I present to you, the new Les Miles stats thread:

76-26 = The Hat's Overall Record, (74.5%)

39-22 = The Hat's SEC regular season record, (63.9%)

24-18 = The Hat's record against SEC West opponents, (57.1%)

3 = Number of times LSU has finished the season with 9 win or less since 2007

2-7 = Record against Alabama

25-18 = The Hat's record against Top 25 teams

22-17 = The Hat's record against Top 15 teams

11-17 = The Hat's record against Top 10 teams

5-10 = The Hat's record against Top 5 teams

0-4 = The Hat's record against #1 ranked teams

38-23 = The Hat's record against teams that finished the year with a winning record. (62.3) - * (This includes 6 wins against rent-a-win teams)

32-23 = The Hat's record against teams that finished the season with winning records, minus the wins against rent-a-win teams, (58.2%)

10 = times LSU has lost by at least 14 points

5 = times LSU has lost by at least 21 points

20 = times LSU has scored less than 20 points

4 = times LSU has had a 300 yard passer

Now 2011 was really the exception to the rule. Prior to 01/09/12, that team was in the conversation for the best college football team of all time. LSU ran through a slew of ranked teams that year and that obviously helped with all of the records and stats posted above.

But how do those numbers look like, minus that 2011 season? Well, here they are:

63-25 = The Hat's Overall Record, (71.6%)

31-22 = The Hat's SEC regular season record, (58.5%)

19-17 = The Hat's record against SEC West opponents, (52.8%)

3-3 = The Hat's Bowl record

0 = Number of times LSU finished the season ranked in the Top 5

1 = Number of times LSU finished the season ranked in the Top 10

0 = Number of SEC West titles

1-6 = Record against Alabama

3-5 = record against Arkansas

17-17 = The Hat's record against Top 25 teams

15-16 = The Hat's record against Top 20 teams

8-16 = The Hat's record against Top 15 teams

4-12 = The Hat's record against Top 10 teams

2-9 = The Hat's record against Top 5 teams

0-4 = The Hat's record against #1 ranked teams

28-22 = The Hat's record against teams that finished the year with a winning record. (56.0%) - * (This includes 5 wins against rent-a-win teams)

23-22 = The Hat's record against teams that finished the season with winning records, minus the wins against rent-a-win teams, (51.1%)

Its a lot of work to put all that together. There is just too much Miles fatigue at the moment.

This is stunning, to be quite honest. I see no other conclusion other than CLM consistently wins when he has the talent advantage, and is subpar, to say the best, when matched up with equal talent.

This thread makes me wonder.. how will LSU fans remember Miles?

I know how Im gonna remember him. I think he was a very good coach who got a little stale at the end. I know some think differently.

If you want a 9-10 wins, 15-20ish ranking, a mid-tier bowl ... CLM is your man.
