Good stuff...what site was it pulled from or was it done manually?

We win 80% of the games Romero starts in and win only 55% (11-9) of the games he doesn't start in.
Romero has started aganist a lot of weaker competition, doesn't really tell us much.
Like 12-14 of those 20 starts were not against great competition.

Chicken and egg...they can't win when he starts against A&M if he never starts against A&M.

I agree, but what I'm saying is using those stats to show some kind of correlation overall is invalid. Strength of teams is being ignored.

RPI isn't my favorite indicator, but it's the best we have to do any ranking of the teams. Plus the selection committee uses it heavily, so here goes...
Average opponent RPI when only Pap starts: 91.7 (11-9 record)
Average opponent RPI when only Romero starts: 99.7 (11-2 record)
Average opponent RPI when both start: 103.9 (5-2 record)
Average opponent RPI when only Pap starts: 91.7 (11-9 record)
Average opponent RPI when only Romero starts: 99.7 (11-2 record)
Average opponent RPI when both start: 103.9 (5-2 record)

I posted this in the other thread:
he's caught the last 19 innings, with the 4 most curveball heavy guys on the staff and allowed ZERO wild pitches and just 1 stolen base. That's not against lesser competition at all.
He also had quite a few big hits. He's not this huge liability guy that people make him out to be. So the defense isn't so much different than when Papierski is back there.

So we've won 59% of the games Pap starts at catcher & 85% of the games Romero starts at catcher .

OVERALL 16-4 with Romero starting
Way way better than that now.

Why doesn't CPM focus more on playing his best players instead throwing players under the bus?
what an asshat statement. you are accusing mainieri of not knowing who his best players are. maybe, JUST frickING MAYBE, PM knows more about baseball and his players more than you do. there are a bunch of reasons why Romero didn't start at Catcher, you just don't know them. and just because you are ignorant, doesn't mean our coach is.
