How big of a problem (or is it a problem at all) that we have no "named" starter at QB? Heard the guys on 104.5 radio talking yesterday about how Miles can take his time naming a starter - and may wait until the day before we play our opener. Thoughts/opinions?

I am glad that I have better things to worry about with my life than who the starting QB will be in 24 days against an FCS team.

Everyone and their grandma knows we'll see who the starter is when he trots out onto the field and not before then

No need to pick a starter this early. The team still has a couple major scrimmages to go through.

Whoever will be the starter will have to earn it.
Also, just because the general public doesn't know who the starter is, doesn't mean the team doesn't.

It will be Harris. I'd be willing to bet that no team with a true QB controversy has named a starter.

don't you think that he does this so opponents won't know who our starter is till the latest time possible?

what advantage does he get to name a starter early? especially if one qb is getting reps with the 1's?

i don't see it as a problem.

The sigh of relief when Miles announces Harris as the starter the Wednesday before the game will be most delightful.

Nor will there be.

This is pretty standard Miles.

Ohio State hasn't named a starter and they're favored to win the national championship, so I wouldn't say it's a big problem.

Thinking you may not really know how the whole fall camp QB battle thing works. IMO.

You just need to inject about $180,000, and you should be good. Prayers sent.

This is pretty standard for any true competition during fall practice. If Miles did name a starter then it would actually mean it wasn't a competition, and he had his mind made up before the scrimmages and full team practices.

BTW, Urban is doing the same thing with Cardale Jones and JT Barrett. They are actually splitting reps 50/50 in camp and he's not naming anybody before the opener

Also keep in mind MSU is probably spending time in camp game prepping for LSU. If they don't know who the QB is, it's an advantage.
