I still fail to see your point. LSU hasn't been close to being undefeated the last two years. The passing game is broken and has been for two solid years.

ETA:

In our defense thats 1 more touchdown than last year with 2 less games. That's progress.

That my friends is unacceptable at this level of football. Its embarrassing, no other way to spin it.

Harris was tied for 6th in the SEC in TD passes while playing with a RB who 2nd in the SEC in TDs.

Why would you include last year under a first-year, true sophomore starter who was replaced?

Psssst . . . your agenda is showing.

I dont have an agenda. I'm just pointing out how bad our passing game has been the last two years with different quarterbacks. That amount of passing TDs in two seasons is very very bad at this level. I would hope you can see that too.

f they could go undefeated by running it up the middle every play of every game I wouldn't care. That is not going to happen though, you have to be able to pass.

Gpod you agree with the coaches because they haven't been remotely close to doing this all season or really ever.

Passing touchdowns is the main reason they are not undefeated, your question makes no sense.

This may sound stupid, but I think TD passes is one of the most overvalued stats there is. If a QB is moving his team up and down the field and is otherwise efficient, who cares what the last play of a drive is? And while INTs are important, TD/Int as a plus/minus indicator also seems stupid. How do the passing yards compare to other teams?

This is true, but we could substitute TDs for passing yards and still the question remains

say we have our 2011 defense and special teams and Bama's O-line

would LSU be undefeated this year with the same passing game?

I realize our passing game has sucked balls the last 2 years, it was the "unacceptable" part that I had issues with since a bad passing game can be disguised with elite other units

I think we have seen over two years that you cannot go undefeated with those type of stats when playing elite teams.

Red zone offense this year certainly has suffered due to the issues throwing the ball.

Ridiculous hypothetical. I think you missed the point-- This is a glaring reason why we have 3 losses.

LSU would need more TD passes to be undefeated.

Say we had the 85 Bears' defense, with LF, Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders in the backfield....

See how idiotic that is.

All these what ifs don't matter.

Our passing game sucked, especially in the games where our rushing offense was shut down. That's why we lost...badly.

of course they don't matter

I was simply trying to understand if it would ever be acceptable

To this point, we had a running game that looked unstoppable during the beginning of the season, but many were calling for more passing because it would eventually be needed. Others thought the concerns were ridiculous because you can't take the ball out of the hands of a RB as successful as LF7. I think we all know how this turned out.

It an impossible hypothetical.

In theory, yes if we went undefeated with ZERO TD passes, we all would (or should) be happy. But that isn't remotely realistic.
