In relief? Maybe so. Starting? No... Either Hess or Gilbert will get first crack there.

Mainieri likes a reliable glove at 3B, and that's where I think Slaughter will end up.. I'd like to keep him at 1B, but if Storz can play there and his bat is as good as advertised, put him there..
Yeah

We have some pretty good bats coming in, so whoever gets the DH spot will have earned it. And I don't know if Storz getting a look at 1B is just speculation from the baseball people on here or if it's legit. I'm pretty sure he played OF in HS, but he seems to be built like a prototypical 1B.

He may be listed this. Go stand next to him.
Mainiari loves the Jordan's. Bryce isn't as bad as y'all are saying. Slaughter is too large and solid at first to move to me.

What a game from @hunter_feduccia tonight. 3-5, 2 HRs, an RBI 2B, 4 RBI & threw out 3 attempted base stealers. #Rivets

Can't wait to see both Feduccia & Dolittle next year. I heard Dolittle had a concussion recently if true I hope he's Ok.

That's great to hear, anything out of his bat will be a huge plus next year. I want him starting as long as he can keep the running game in check.

It will be very interesting to see your preseason write up for next season.
There are a lot of different options at a lot of the different positions.
Most positions will have a good battle imo.

I am hoping that Ferducci will be the starter at catcher but split time somewhat with Doolittle.
The outfield is mostly set.
The infield will be interesting.

The talent is there the problem is there's not much experience and the squad will assuredly take a while to gel much like 2016.
Also the incoming recruiting class may be under rated by sites like D1Baseball, BaseballAmerica but there are some stars in the class (Cabrera, Storz, Labas, Sanders, Veitmeier, Webre).
The good news is Dunn/Mainieri/Cain are bringing in 11-12 new arms. Each arm has a chance to have a big role and make an impact and there will be quality depth for the first time in years as long as 4-5 of them pan out.
It's going to be interesting, you can't help but look at the roster in 2-3 years and see the puzzle pieces aligning.

I agree.
I am excited for next year also because I enjoy watching players grow and the team grow together as a team.
2019 could be special though.

Right now, 2018 feels a lot like 2016 did. Losing a lot from a CWS team the year before, but you can see the pieces coming together for a potentially deep run the year after. 2016 ended up being a fun season (especially after the possum made its appearance), partly because of the relatively low expectations and watching the team grow through the year.

This fall's scrimmages will be fun to watch with all the holes to be filled and young talent coming in. We should be able to guess the spring line-up by the end of fall well enough to argue about it all winter.

Feduccia sounds like the new man running the show at the box. Keep it up kid!

Just have to hope the inexperience doesn't lead to them not being able to throw strikes.

Thx for all you do on here,
Think Coomes steps up, need him to be the leader in the INF, whether he is at catcher or 1B. Really like Chris Reid at 3B, but could be tough with the incoming talent. Also talked to Bryce Jordan and he said rehab has been going great, so could see him filling in at DH.
Like someone said fall scrimmages will be great, and PM gets a lot on here, but one thing about him is every player every year is given a chance to perform and stay in the lineup, see Watson.

You're welcome! Glad I could help out
I don't pay that much attention to recruiting, so I don't know what the newcomers will look like. 2018 will have lower expectations than 2017 did because of everyone we lost, but I tend to enjoy those seasons more. Probably because CPM doesn't need to be fired every time we lose a game

Mason Templet needs to get work at 2B this fall he could be a dangerous left handed bat.
