What do you predict is going to be the outcome?

I hate to say it like this, but injuries happen every year. The roster will work itself out. Hopefully that doesn't happen. As for a straight forward look, Forshag is the first one to move to the development squad. Then one of the arms, potentially Ryan May, but way too early to tell.

I can see Kramer bolting if he doesn't win SS or 2B job
With pitching depth PM will be honest and tell a pitcher or two there will not be many innings available in 2016

notable tweets from press conference....

Paul Mainieri steps to the podium to begin his 10th season. We're 28 weeks and a day to first pitch!

Mainieri: excited about RHP Cole McKay deciding to come after drafted 30th rd by Detroit. "High ceiling. Alex Lange type ceiling."

Mainieri also excited about holding on to SS Trey Dawson, who turned down an late offer. Fills a huge need with Alex Bregman gone. #LSU

Main focus in the fall, Mainieri says: "Putting together a lineup." Again, 7 of 8 position players gone. PM says he's excited. #LSU

PM: "The main focus this fall is putting together a lineup. With only one returning starter from 2015, we have our work cut out for us."

Mainieri : "We don't really have rebuilding years, it's just a matter of which players we can count on"

Bryce Jordan is on a 13-game hitting streak, Mainieri says. Hit his first homer of the summer this week. #LSU

Jake Fraley is still suffering from a finger injury he sustained in #LSU's last game of the season vs. TCU.

Beau Jordan, Bryce Jordan, Greg Deichmann, Kramer Robertson, Doug Norman, some of the guys Paul mentioned having good summers #LSU

PM on Akron transfer John Valek, LHP: "He was offered by several pretty good programs. Real crafty left-hander." #LSU

Austin Bain had shoulder surgery a week ago. "We don't think it's serious." He'll miss fall. #LSU

Hunter Devall suffered a foot injury during a celebration when #LSU beat A&M. His status is uncertain for fall.

Mainieri saw Latz throw a 75-pitch simulated game recently. "His velocity was great first inning." Velo dropped, but CB was good. #LSU

Paul Mainieri recently saw Jake Latz throw a simulated game in Chicago. 75 pitches, velocity 89-91. CB and CH got better in 2nd/3rd inn.

Latz has joined a summer league. Will pitch tomorrow. #LSU

Latz should be back full blast in fall

PM: "Antoine Duplantis and Brennan Breaux are the same mold as Andrew Stevenson and Mark Laird."

"Duplantis is the sleeper of this class."

Cody Ducote, JUCO signee, has been suffering a sore shoulder. Could be #LSU's top DH option next season.

Mainieri on Cody Ducote: Sore throwing arm, exclusively DH this summer, don't know if in fight to play INF or DH. Excited about bat.#LSU

Mainieri has been told Cody Ducote is best hitter in New Orleans, since Mason Katz. #LSU

PM: "The catching position is very much an open race."

Mike Papierski's hitting is "a question." But "terrific" defensively

PM: Jordan Romero is a kid I'm very excited about. He's a big strong physical kid and reminds me a lot of Kade Scivicque.

Mainieri categorizes the catcher battle as a "two-horse race" between signee Romero and Papierski. #LSU

Mainieri: Trent Forshag added as prefered walkon to give depth at catcher. Bryce Jordan will play C and 1B. #LSU

Mainieri: I feel like I'm 10 yrs younger because of excitement I have for this fall. So many challenges. #LSU

Will #LSU be as aggressive as they were last year? Mainieri: "You have to adjust to your personnel."

PM: I think Jake Fraley is an outstanding ball player and could be a great draft choice next year. He's the total package.

Mainieri says following are competing for #LSU SS: Dawson, Robertson, Lochridge, Freeman.

Grayson Byrd was in that mix of SS competitors before his transfer. Freeman replaced him. #LSU

Greg Deichmann will compete at third base for #LSU, Mainieri says. Lochridge, too. At first: Bryce Jordan, signee Adams & Wofford.

Mainieri said Bain is having the same surgery that Troy Whitty and Hunter Newman had. PM said made a difference with those guys --- removal of burn spurs

Grayson Byrd said to Paul Mainieri when he told him he's transferring: "I'm just not enjoying being at LSU. I'm just not having fun."

Mainieri said Danny Zardon did NOT demand a starting job

We ask a lot of our players. There's a lot of pressure on these kids. -Mainieri

"Alan and I have talked about this a lot - we have got to develop a 3rd starter this year and hopefully a fourth starter."

It's proven now in the postseason, [piecing together] is a tough way to approach a game."

PM on not having a No. 3: "All it takes is one or two pitchers to have a bad innings and it could knock you out of a game." #LSU

PM: "We are going to look at Godfrey as a starter."

"Of equal importance, I think we need to figure out that closer role"

Mentioned Stallings needing more than 1 pitch to be a closer

Parker Bugg didn't pitch this summer. #LSU wanted his velo to get up there to 93 from 90. Throwing long toss a lot.

Mainieri: Will look at Jake Fraley in CF. Concerned about his hamstrings staying healthy. Covering ground in CF a worry.

Fraley will play some center in the fall

... the end

Last summer, PM was comparing Pap to Micah Gibbs. Hopefully, his hitting skills catch up with his defense.

I wish he would have stayed.

I didn't realize Deichmann would be a draft eligible sophomore, but as of now, that may not be a concern.

The new season always feels so much more real when the official roster comes out. Of course, this isn't the final one, but it's pretty close. Thanks for everything you do, Astro

So many pitchers. Is that the typical breakdown of a roster? More than half are pitchers?

Stro, why do you have Latz with the incoming freshmen?

He didn't technically redshirt, did he?

Yeah Latz is officially a redshirt freshman.

It's also pretty typical for the roster to be 50/50 on pitchers and position players.

So is it safe to say that the second place SS is the starting 2B? Assuming Dawson wins the SS job, Can Deichmann play 2B and Lochridge play 3B?

Freeman hit well at Delgado but his BB/K's were a little alarming for the amount of AB's he got at a Juco.

Probably won't matter but Bain is also draft eligible after next season.
