We are losing 79% of rushing yards, 80% of receiving yards, and 96% of passing yards. I cannot remember losing so much offensive production in 1 year. Can or will the defense be vastly improved next year to carry the team while the offense gets its identity?

offensive identity is going to be "run the football".. and it should be really successful.

I appreciate the positive response, but can you explain why it will be really successful.

We seem to always have problems with the offensive line though.

We couldn't run against Georgia, ole miss, bama

LSU has the best OC and DC duo in CFB. Got no worries as long as Cam and Chavis are at LSU.

That could be because we didn't have offensive production since 2007.

that got to me thinking, so I went back and looked at 1985 (Hilliard, James, Martin, Wickersham etc) they lost 90% rushing, 94% passing and 50% receiving.

2006 was close in the passing game:

Passing (JR): 95.6%
WR (DB And CD): ~60%

Rushing we didn't lose much as that was JV and Alley's last years.

Still, we lost a ton and did just fine.

Rushing the football we will be fine. Magee has looked terrific and Fournette will be here hopefully. Freshman can come in and play immediately at the RB position and make a difference.

Throwing, well, it will be interesting to see how AJ looks in the bowl. Dural has looked decent and we have guys like avery peterson and diarse waiting. WR is another place where true freshman can make a big difference and we will (once again hopefully) have a wide array of skill sets ready to do that from guys like quinn who catch everything, freak athlete slot guy-speedy, and prototypical outside height guy-Dupre.

Oline will return most if not all of the starters and Pocic looks ready to step right in on whatever spot opens up.

Potential is there and are in a good position to where our openings are places where true freshman historically have the ability to succeed at unlike places like O line or d line. Jennings will get much needed quality snaps in January....sets up well. Just need those redshirted d lineman to mature.
