Just a reminder that after the 2012 season, after Arkansas (allegedly) offered Miles over $5 million per year, Miles got a $550,000/year raise and extension to 2019.

You can pretend that it didn't have anything to do with an Arkansas offer, but any agent in the country would bring that to the table when negotiating an extension/raise.

Miles is a hell of a guy, done a lot of great things in addition to the wins. But everybody making him out to be an angel and a hero needs to take a step back. LSU is 9-9 against the SEC West since the leveraged Arkansas rumors helped get him more money.

He deserved one more year. He's officially on the hot seat.

He was one year removed from putting an undefeated team in the NC game. After the past 3 years, he's obviously not viewed in the same light as he was then.

It had to do with an imaginary Arkansas offer.

Nobody but the most delusional of our fanbase (and maybe Joe Alleva) really believed that Arkansas really wanted Les.

Imaginary or not, just the speculation allowed an agent like Bass to put it on the table for his guy. Why wouldn't he? It's his job to get the most for his client.

What would probably happen?

"I accept your resignation". Press release ASAP.

Oh no doubt.

Which really puts all of this debacle squarely on Alleva. As I've said before, Les was holding a jack high, but the way Alleva folded, you'd have thought he held 4 aces.

If that happens, we let him go. Miles can't leverage another job again, he knows we'll point him to the door. He also knows that buyout is the only reason he's still here.

Feels like Alleva's hands were tied due to the political nature of the buyout, or his only deal to make fell through.

Or he feels pretty fricking untouchable after beating Alleva in a power play.

Seriously. Miles probably feels invincible after having the fans scream his name and the backing of the university president.

We know..We know..We also understand that in your world in order to be an angel we should not listen to or accept any other job offers ever nor negotiate for any type of increase if we are to keep our halos.

When negotiating does LSU just take his agents word? Do they have to show a written offer? I seriously have no clue.

I am guessing you call the bluff and take your chances. Which is probably what LSU should have done.
