I've heard rumors on and off that Miles was close to being canned in 2006 after the second loss against Florida, and that had they lost another game the TAF already had the money together to buy him out. I don't know if this is true or not. Does anyone know if this is just a load of crap or actually has some substance behind it?

That is probably crap considering it was his second year and we were coming off an absolute destruction of Miami in a bowl game.

He handled Katrina season very, very well.

False. This was true in 2007 after the Arkansas game, but the stars aligned and he ended up getting a natty ring and a fat extension instead. Miles has been on the hotseat nearly evey season and manages to do just enough to keep his job.

2006 was when Saban decided to quit the Dolphins so there was some chatter about letting Miles go to give Saban his job back. Just rumors but I suspect Saban and Sexton touched base with LSU during that time.
