Johnny Jones may be the 'winningest' coach thru his first few years here, but with the talent on this team, there is no excuse for us to be sitting at 11-7 and playing for our tournament lives every week. If you look at the players we have on the court and the talent that is there, it is difficult to imagine many coaches having this team under-achieve as much as Johnny Jones has.

Look at the roster and please tell me how in hell we are sitting with 7 losses?!?!

Tim Quarterman (approximately 70th overall rated prospect in 2013)
Craig Victor (approximately 40th overall rated prospect in 2014))
Brandon Sampson (approximately 60th overall rated prospect in 2015)
Antonio Blakeney (top-20 overall rated prospect in 2015)
Ben Simmons (#1 overall rated prospect in 2015)

That's 5 top-100 players on this team and we still are underachieving badly.

Arguably, there has never been more talented depth on an LSU basketball team...2006 maybe, and that team went to the Final Four. This team may not even make the tournament.

LSU is 7-3 with the talent you listed with losses to Wake Forest, @UF and @Texas A&M

Hornsby and Victor missed the first half of the season where we acquired our bad losses. And we still should have won those games imo, but we certainly don't lose to Marquette and NC state with Victor

I love how this word is thrown around this board so much.

Unacceptable.

So what are you going to do about it....since you can't accept it?

Because Sampson is a Freshman and not ready. TQ is so sporadic. Hornsby and Victor didn't play first half of the seasson

Jones was hired because this administration doesnt care about basketball.

If it cared, you don't let Shaka Smart, Gregg Marshall, or Jamie Dixon tell you NO. 4 million might be required.

I said before this season started that the season hinged on Robinson's improvement. He has not improved at all and we are not a very good team. The game plan to beat LSU is easy. Feed the ball to your big man down low and let Victor get into foul trouble (he's a below average post defender and fouls often). Once Victor is out of the game, LSUs offense goes to shite. Front court depth is the biggest weakness on this team.

Maybe we don't lose those games with Victor and Hornsby.

I can accept a loss or two OOC, but 5 losses that included Houston, College of Charleston, NC State, Marquette, and Wake Forest in really bad. We beat no good teams prior to SEC play and were clearly the more talented team out on the floor each game. Some of the blame has to go to our coaches. Even without Victor, you still have a very talented team on the court.

Jones was hired because Trent was a massive fail which empowered the Johnny backers from the last go round. Great pick guys, who would have thought an average coach in a crap conference wouldn't be the missing piece LSU basketball needed.

I like Johnny as a person....but man our players have looked pretty basketball stupid in his tenure.

Not entirely sure this is just an LSU issue though, CBB as a whole is pretty crappy. There's a few teams on one level....and then a lot of meh.

Basketball is getting a taste of what Football has been experiencing the last few years! Sucks, huh?!

Regardless of what happens this year you can thank johnny for making this job better. If someone comes in next year they will have much better talent than what johnny had to work with and they will not have to build from scratch. And if you ask me that's why he was hired. Crowds go to games again recruits want to play here. He has elavated the job.

Simmons is leaving and we have a below-average recruiting class coming in.

Eh, Jones is a better recruiter than Trent Johnson was, but you can't dismiss the "wanting to play with Simmons effect" on last years recruiting class. We don't have a shot at Blakeney without Simmons. Just look at next years class. This was the year to make a run. It's only going to get worse from here with Jones at the helm.

Other than Simmons, none of these guys would start for a top 25 team imo.
