It's really a poitless article. If he becomes one of the worst players in baseball then he will consider playing football again. He's not going to give up baseball when he is just getting to the MLB for the first time.

Yea it would've been nice but miles probably would've found a way to have Jefferson walk on the field against bama.

This may come down to being a numbers game. The Dodgers have 3 Right Handed Pitchers in their starting rotation. Six of their eight relievers are RHPs.

Of their top 30 prospects, the Dodgers have EIGHTEEN Right Handed Pitchers. Zack is presently the #12 overall Dodger prospect and the #5 RHP prospect. He's the 4th oldest of the eighteen with one being age 27 and two being 25.

None of the four guys ahead of Zack had a signing bonus remotely close to his. The next highest is $2.5 million to their present #1 RHP prospect who's been clocked at 100 mph and usually throws 93-95 mph. What is Lee's present salary and when does that contract end? The major league minimum is $507,000, but minor leage players can be paid a small fraction of that. If, say, he's making a $100,000 salary [despite the massive signing bonus] when his contract renews, then there may be a point where there could be diminishing marginal returns. Let's not forget that baseball is first a business and the Dodgers load up with very expensive big name pitchers to bring in crowds.

I agree that with his renewed effort, presently Zack's not going to give up his baseball dream. That dream may tarnish, say, three more seasons from now if he's still sitting in the minor leagues.

BTW: The following may be a little dated in contrast to the article and is out of mlb prospects:

"Lee lacks a true out pitch and got hit hard in Triple-A when his fastball backed up to 88-93 mph and his slider lost some sharpness. His most reliable offering in 2014 was his solid changeup, which he sells well. He also uses a curveball that features 12-6 break at times."

"When Lee's pitches were crisper and he commanded them better in the past, he missed bats and projected as a possible No. 3 starter. His delivery didn't look as loose in 2014 as it had previously, so it's possible he could regain his previous form if he can clean up his mechanics."

Think most likely scenario is Lee gets traded as a throw in at the deadline. Dodgers are going to most likely put together a big package for Cueto or Hamels and that would make Lee that much more expendable to them.
