Blacks. North Louisiana has a much larger black contingent compared to Lafayette.

There's plenty of black folk in the Lafayette area look at all the towns in the Lafayette Metro Area that produce talent for LSU like Breaux Bridge.

Anyway isn't our 5 Star DT commitment from Lafayette?

Acadiana has had a hand full, unfortunately many of them could barely spell their name.

the athletic facilities at the public schools in lafayette [are] Way behind the rest of the state.
Most logical explanation I've seen.

African Americans might make up a higher percentage of the population in other parts of the state, but there are enough in Lafayette (and Acadiana as a whole, which doesn't produce much football talent either) to where there should be a few LSU-caliber prospects every year (or at least every couple of years). LSU will just have to be happy with getting stellar baseball prospects out of the 337 until something changes.

STM, Teurlings, and Notre Dame need to step up their recruitment efforts

You could say that they lack these facilities to make the academic side of the schools better, but you can't say that either. The roads suck. As a matter of fact, this makes me wonder where exactly my taxes are going.
Another good point.

I think you have all these private schools that were created with less than adequate coaching. Look at the difference of NISH from the 1980s until now. There's no Etienne, Raymond, Ausberry, Moses, and the parish: Derwin Antione ( Loreauville) and so many more being coached-up. This is an embarrassment to me and surely the Acadiana community being a 1986 graduate from New Iberia. Sorry for reveling on New Iberia and Iberia parish.

Carencro but Kevin Faulk says hello. So does Trev. With a chin-wave from Jamie Howard.

Why are schools like more like Acadiana, Comesux, Tuerlings, and STM not putting out players every year?

Here's Tuerling's starting LBers.

Pretty comparable actually. Shreveport the city may be bigger than the city of Lafayette but the Lafayette Metro Area is bigger than the Shrevport-Bossier Metro Area.

2014 census says Shreveport 198K, Bossier 67K and Laffy 126K. So you think you've got another 140K in Laffayette metro area?

Lafayette Metro has 479K.
Shreveport-Bossier Metro has 449K

Pretty similar

Alexandria just produced WR DJ Chark who is on LSU, and Matthew Beck who will play baseball at LSU.

The issue in CenLa is that it is a combination of not putting enough emphasis on football and poor coaching/development. A lot of good ol boy network in both staffs and starters.

Are you including New Iberia etc in that Lafayette Metro?

Shreveport is much larger than Lafayette and Monroe does not produce more talent than Lafayette. Your all time Monroe team would get ran over by Kevin Faulk.

Except the fact West Monroe is actually who beat Kevin Faulk in 93.

Breaux Bridge is not a part of Lafayette Parish. By including Breaux Bridge, St. Martinville, and New Iberia into Lafayette, you open an entirely new discussion.

The official "metro" designation, whatever that is, gives Lafayette a larger metro area than Shreveport. And yes I'm pretty sure that metro area includes Opelousas, New Iberia, and Breaux Bridge.

Again I don't know how they come up with that, but it's an official designation not us just adding places together

Lol. There are exceptions. I grew up in Evangeline Parish, and I'm 6'9. Whoever said the focus was on baseball and basketball was right. I wasn't even a football fan until I was in my 20's. We didn't even have a football team.

No it's not. Not even close. Lafayette is pretty small.
