I've said before that they should recruit O lineman from other states. Look at the pro bowl linemasn over the years and see what they look like and where they come from. It's the states where they have more dairy farms...Wisconsin, Iowa, California, Texas. Look it up! Chances are these guys will be scholastically eligible, not have character issues, and will stay 4 years with the program.

At least living in Wisconsin and following some of the High School Friday Night Teams when I get a chance I could easily share information with coach o living here...Being an LSU Grad and wearing LSU Gear most kids look highly at LSU for Football and Baseball...Soon to be Basketball...And Wisconsin has definite talent in Basketball...One of my friends here has a son Tyler Herro #25 in 2018 Class going to Wisconsin as a 6'-5" Shooting Guard...

I've been saying this for years. I have no idea why LSU doesn't venture out into the mid west for OLman. Hell Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Virginia, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Texas. I would also go into Texas every year to find an under the radar QB. Get our DBs, WRs, DLman from LA, MS, TX, AL, GA, and FL. Go into SC, VA, NC, and Tenn for linebackers and front seven guys as well. Stay instate for RBs. Go where the gold is every year.

LSU has to start spending money in recruiting, it pays off big time. Go into JUCO every year, even if you think we may not need it, go anyway. I would rather have way too many than not enough. It's time LSU gets off their arse and they could also communicate better as a staff. We have a GM that can be flying all over the place to start relationships, then fly back with his position coach. The camp thing is nice but you can do some evals of film, and then go see them in person and make the offer. Once that initial visit is done then invite him to your school and keep going back with his position coach. It's a numbers game and you can't be afraid to of these recruits, be aggressive, but be precise as well. Gotta make them feel needed and wanted.

You make many great points. Also, LSU did have success with Pocic from Illinois, and Bama this year has a starting guard from Iowa.

Maybe someone needs to make a suggestion considering the current OL depth

"Chances are these guys will be scholastically eligible, not have character issues, and will stay 4 years with the program."

You left out "hard workers, gym rats, the kind you'd want your daughter to marry, coach on the field, ...". We get your and the other "look like the pro bowlers" guy's point. You agree with Semjackass (BRAVEHEART) that LSU should recruit "up north" lineman. And like him you believe the "up north" lineman are more intelligent and can process information better than the ones we recruit.

I would wager over the last 5 years LSU has put as many offensive linemen in the NFL as has Wisconsin. And They are doing as well or better than the Wisconsin linemen. But for a certain segment of the LSU fan base, when they see Wisconsin lines and LSU lines, they automatically assume the Wisconsin lines are more intelligent, harder workers and more proficient. That segment has been programmed to see the world that way.

Remember the fans calling Brandon Harris, Jordan Jefferson and Anthony dumb when they played poorly. Claiming they couldn't learn the play book. Could not read the defense and process information rapidly. Have Elling or Lee been called dumb or incapable of learning the playbook for their poor play? Lee was never called dumb or unable to learn the playbook or incapable of processing information rapidly when he set records throwing interceptions and pick sixes.

Do you guys really not see the double standard? Or do you just choose to ignore it or deny it exists?

I think there is some bias but overall I don't think this is why MOST fans want to see us venture up north or into the Midwest more. I know it's not from my stand point. I would recruit down south as well but why not put our selves in a greater position to be successful with our numbers at the end of a class by going see more lineman. It's also bias to say let's stay down south to recruit RBs, WRs, DBs, and front seven guys too isn't it? It works both ways and if you look at the numbers of successful positions, that's what the numbers tell you. As for as OLman goes you simply have to widen your base.

There are lineman everywhere but if you aren't going to spend the time and money to go all over then you won't have a chance with them. That's all I'm saying. It's also proven that Texas, and California produce boat loads of QB prospects so why not go or look for uder the radar prospects in these areas. It's not bias per say, it's simply going where the production is coming from.

It's why the northern schools are now coming down here for their athletes as well. I guess their bias too? No, I don't think so, they simply want to compete with the SEC, so why not venture down here to fill their voids up north? Of course they will and should, as should LSU and any other team that wants to compete for championships. All LSU would have to do is have someone map out the hot bed areas at positions of need, and go find them. Using tape, connections, in person meets, LSU camp invites, transfers, and JUCO. The few more million we would spend doing this would be peanuts compared to what the results would be by bringing them in.

It's time LSU get with the program. We are one of the richest schools in the country and if they want to rise up that ladder then they should invest the time and money. We may not have to do it for all that long either, we may have tons of prospects in this general area some years or if we start winning championships again then maybe they come to us much more. But initially this is what I would be doing if I'm LSU. Spare no expense until we have all the holes fixed on our roster two deep. GT

u seem like u have ur feelings hurt. JJ was not bright, BH is not accurate. You put in hard workers, gym rats, the kind you'd want your daughter to marry, coach on the field--does that make you feel better.

Good hope you feel better now.

People are just saying that certain regions tend to produce better players at certain positions than others for whatever reason. You're the only one making an issue of this? What's behind all that anger my friend?

Are you old enough to remember the hate Thomas Dunson got? Or more recently, DJ Welter?

And by the way, Danny Etling has been called "terrible", "sucks", "weak-armed", "indecisive", "garbage" on the Rant...and that's just on one thread.

In case you don't remember, when LSU played Wisconsin a couple of seasons ago...Wisconsin owned the line of scrimage on both sides of the ball!

I just checked your "wager" concerning the number of O lineman in the NFL who played at LSU vs those who played at Wisconsin. Currently on active NFL rosters there are 4 from LSU and 8 from Wisconsin. You lose!
